Phonelinx aka Globallinx ripoff Unauthorized billing & unsatisfied promise to refund McLean Virginia

While reviewing my 9/02 bank statement, I found a charge for $49.95 for Globallinx (888-762-5326). I called to verify what the charge was for and was informed by Globallinx that the charge was from another company called Phonelinx (a telecom company). I then called Phonelinx at 888-798-5200 and was told that (unknown to me) I had accepted this service after placing a credit card purchase online. I told them that I had not used this service and that I did not want or ever intend to purchase it. I was then told that my subscription would be canceled and my credit card would be refunded.
This was all in early September. I have called the company back several times looking for the status of my refund (which turned out to be 2 months of charges at just over $100). I was told that due to certain system issues, they had been unable to refund, but that it was still in process and everything should be cleared up in the next week or two. I heard this same story at least 4 times over the next couple of months.
To date, I still have not received my refund and the 888-798-5200 phone is now only a recording that says they are having technical difficulties (this has been the case for at least the last two weeks).
I am extremely upset at how this company has done business. It makes me happy that they are apparently out of business, but quite unhappy that myself and probably hundreds of other consumers were ripped off!
