This company really messed me up. I was hired back in June, and was told this was an internship. At the interview, the boss mentioned that I would be making $9/hour and working 40 hours a week. He knew everything that I was capable of, and knew off the bat that I did NOT know html.

After 6 days, the boss pulled me into his office and said that he liked my progress. He liked me as a person, and liked what I could do. He then proceeded to tell me that he was only going to offer me $5 an hour after promising me $9. He said that the extra $4 an hour would be taken out because they had to take the time out to teach me html (which was exactly what they weren't doing. they gave me a book and said 'good luck'.)

I was appalled. I went back the next day to give the bossman my schpeal about how the conversation we had was ridiculous and insulting. He didn't even show up to work that day. I ended up giving my talk to the manager, and I was very angry. The boss called me up that afternoon, and was a complete a*s to me on the phone. He told me to 'have my daddy call him.' My dad ended up calling him, and the conversation ended with my dad threatening to kneecap the guy, and telling him to f off. My dad is a very calm and reserved person and it takes a complete jerk for him to get mad.

Nonetheless, I got paid but it took a good while. They didn't want to pay me at all, but fortunately, I had become friends with the bookkeeper before I left.
