Pinetree Lodge And Cabins And Their Affiliate Traytown Cabins Bait and Switch, Misleading advertising Traytown New Foundland

This business, which is a lodge and cabins tourism accommodation business located in Traytown, Newfoundland, Canada, is arguably the rudest business I've ever encountered.

They have an impressive website with lots of pretty pictures. Don't let the online professional image fool you, these folks are as obnoxious as they come.

Essentially, here's the deal: I found them online when I was booking my vacation, and called them to make a reservation. Their first move was to inform me that only the facility's most expensive room was available during the time I was interested in visiting. When I pointed out that their own website showed vacancy in much cheaper rooms, they admitted that this was the case. I should have known at this point that I was dealing with an unethical company, but I ignored my own instincts and went forward.

Next, I discussed the options, and agreed to a suitable room. Immediately, they calculated the room cost, quoting me a higher rate than that posted on their own website. Again, I pointed out their error, and they admitted that they were mistaken, blaming their computer. The woman on the phone at this point calculated the total based on the actual cost as advertised on their site. She added the tax, gave me the total, I agreed, and provided my credit card information.

Surprise, surprise, when they sent me the reservation, they'd charged me the big rate. I sent them an email reminding them of their error, and they insisted that, even though the low rate was on their website, and even though they'd agreed on the phone that the low rate was the actual rate, they now insisted on charging me the actual rate. Wow.

In an ensuing email conversation, they refused to honor their word, and actually threatened to cancel the reservation if I didn't agree to pay the big rate. Having been informed of their hefty cancellation charge, I was reluctant to allow the cancellation, and eventually I agreed. Wouldn't you know it, when the new confirmation came through, it was at an even higher price.

Clearly, I refused it, and didn't stay with them. If necessary, I'll deal with my credit card company to save the cancellation fees. I've since heard that they have a reputation locally for nickel and diming their clientele, and for arrogance in general.

Just thought you should know... if you're planning a trip to beautiful Traytown Newfoundland, you'd be best to avoid staying at the Pinetree Lodge. While you're at it, might as well avoid Traytown Cabins as well - same company.
