A 'walking' salesperson, Jenna L. with "Devcon Advertising and G.E. Security" (this is how she worded it on the notes she left with me) came around to the back of my house where I was working in the yard.  She started the same pitch as with Vickie (see her report).  She began telling me about how the people breaking into houses are cutting the phone lines and how in about six months they were in the process of changing their system to use the cell towers so this could not happen.  These sales people are well trained and are very persistent.  She had a Pinnacle logo and a Devcon logo on her shirt and an I.D. card on a lanyard but I could never get a definite answer on her company.  She said they were working with G.E.

At first I was concerned about the questions she asked but while I do believe it is all a big scam, I don't think they are a security threat if you sit and talk with them.  The biggest threat will be the contract you end up signing if you fall for this.  After giving me the lengthy spiel, she said she would need to sit down with me and my husband for an interview that would include about seven questions.  This would determine if we were qualified (???) for the system.

She told me that the reason she came to my house is because of the location.  She said they were offering free systems to certain homes and said we would receive the Simon XT Panel, On Star type voice system, apps for our cell phones so we could monitor when away, smoke and heat detector, door sensors, cell phone chip, and a medical pendant for my father-in-law...and all FREE!

I did schedule a tentative appointment with her.  I wanted to get online and see what this was all about.  Usually if something sounds too good to be true something is wrong.  I got a cell phone number from her in case I needed to cancel.  I didn't have time to research and I did call and got voice mail.  I did not receive a return call but she did not show.  However, at the exact time of her appointment, a guy shows up at the door saying he is with ADT.

She showed up again today and apologized for not showing and said she had a family emergency.  We were outside waiting for a service person to stop by and she would not stop talking.  She said she was working in the neighborhood again today.  Still, no definitive answers.  Everything was free...installation, monitoring, the whole thing.  When I asked how long the monitering was free, she said "indefinitely".  The important thing not to do is to tell your neighbors that the system is free because by letting them give all this to you, you would be placing a sign in your front yard and hopefully your neighbors will see the sign and call and get the system.

There were so many of these people walking around today.  Even though they are supposedly very selective about the homes the visit (location), they must be going to every house.  I wish I had answered the door last week when the ADT guy showed up.  It would be interesting to know if he was also with Pinnacle.

Oh yes, they named names of people in the neighborhood who had received these systems...including one of our police officers.  Your better off just shutting them up when you see them coming but good luck doing it.
