I went to work for this company in October, 2005. We were hired as contractors to do cell phone technology testing, testing the newest equipment for Lucent Technologies, who were contracted by Cingular, here in Las Vegas. We tested the new UMTS, WCDMA 850 & 1900 Mhz cell phone equipment. We were paid a decent salary, much less than what Afroz Lateef, the manager from Pixaware was charging Lucent, but we knew that going in. We were promsed direct deposit of payroll, and a $2.00 per hour bonus at the end of the job, which was expected to last until the end of the year. The hours were good, and abundant. We were doing upwards of 60 to 70 hours per week on occasion.
During the course of the job, a few times we were paid by live check, instead of direct deposit. And a few times these checks actually bounced, came back to the bank as "insufficient funds". Eeventually that was fixed, although there were a few "bank errors" that occured where we didn't get paid, supposedly because the payroll company had trouble. It always took a few days to get re-imbursed after those little adventures, but we'd eventually get paid. Whatever.
Then one day, we get called at home, and are told,"..oh buy the way, no more work for you, the gigs is over". Just like that. OK. we're contractors, I sort of expected that from Lucent, since the managers were a-holes anyway.
But now come the time to pay the $2.00 per hour bonus for each hour worked, and Pixaware forgets we are even breathing. At first they ignored my calls and emails, until I threatened legal action. Then Afroz Lateef denied he ever offered any bonus, and then he pays me a bonus of $432.00. Paid a bonus to someone whom he denies ever promising one to!! What's wrong with this picture!?!?!
I figured I worked over 800 hours, so I'm owed more that $432.00 lousey bucks.!! He says no, I was paid for the hours I worked in December 2005 only. Not the duration of the job. But yet, he's paid another one of the contractors the full amount, over $1400.00!!
So who's ripping who off here? So avoid doing any business with Pixaware Tech, from Murphy texas, especially as a employee or contractor. He'll bounce checks to you, and stiff you on any bonuses you're promised!!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds
"HR" Department is not a 5 star!
AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, December 01, 2008
First and foremost, I remain anonymous for several reasons. All information that I state is true, however, I wouldn't mind knowing that Pixaware Employers are sweating right now trying to figure which of their many Employees may have aired their dirty laundry. In addition, I'm so through with this company that I don't want the livid attitude I've received in this past from Mr Lateef himself nor do I want to file any attorney disputes with this company. This is just a testimony for those who are considering this company.
I agree with everything that both PJ and Chad say about Mr Lateef. I used to work for this company performing the same tasks as the other two individuals and I can say this company has been one of the most unorganized companies you can work for. Nothing was in order, nothing was promised in writing, nothing was fulfilled from the Employers side. It was almost like working for a Mafia, everything seemed so discreet and so private. Everything seemed like it was "under the table"
Many people found this company to be very skeptical and very unique. I've worked as a contractor for other companies, but never one so unorganized. Granted we were working long weekly shifts but that wasn't thanks to Mr Lateef and Pixaware themselves, that was contracted by Lucent who needed the work done. Remember, we may work UNDER Pixaware, but we worked FOR Lucent.
In addition, Direct Deposit was a mess and HR (if that's even what you want to call the department) would never contact you when something went wrong. You would have to contact them after discovering the issue. For example, if you were expected to receive direct deposit weekly and for whatever reason the deposit was unsuccessful on the Employers end, they did not have the courtesy to contact the Employee and notify them about the issue. The Employee would expect their deposit to go through, and after revealing otherwise, they would have hunt down the Employer. Afroz Lateef would give them the run around as to who to call, and who to contact on the bank's side to resort the issue.
I could never understand why Mr Lateef or his "HR" department couldn't make the calls for you to confirm that the deposit was submitted from the beginning, or even why the "HR" department wouldn't contact the Employee ahead of time to notify them of the issue. The Employee had to play every role for this company to resolve any issue in this company.
When it came to tax time, they never submitted the forms in within a timely fashion, nor did they submit the correct numbers. One year, I was mistaken to make 10's of thousands of dollars over what I made, and had to wait an additional month and half to receive my correct information.
Being this issue, I had several problems filling for taxes that year and had to request for several extensions. IRS ended up auditing my case which caused nothing but grief on my end. Did Pixaware care that this issue happened? Of course not!! To them, the information was "correct" and it was "my fault" that I postponed my submission. I ended up having to resolve this huge issue with the IRS which I still got fined for and ended up loosing even more money trying to resolve.
These are just a few of the many issues I've experienced working for this company. When I decided to leave this company about a year ago for a better opportunity, Mr Lateef was livid. He would call me continuously asking me where I was going and why I was leaving. Granted it felt good to know that my work was worth something to him, and maybe even that he somewhat partially valued me as an Employee, however with all due respect, it was not his concern. My tasks in this situation was simply to notify him of my dismissal. I've been happier ever since and for those that still work for this company, I commend you. The several years that I stayed were more than enough for me.
-------------------------
Last but not least, to answer his two questions:
1) PJ writes: 'But yet, he's paid another one of the contractors the full amount, over $1400.00!! '.
Then why did we not ripoff this other contractor? It was because we wnet with what we promised each one of them individually.
I can say that this company favors their contractors, which I'm sure many companies do, however, a promise is a promise. The contractor that did not get ripped off during that moment, may have gotten ripped off eventually. The $1,400 could have just been Afroz way to keep him around for as long as they could.
--------------------------
2) There still is one employee working on the same project since 2005 for the same client, on the same project. Since 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and ongoing.....
Why are there no complaints from him or from over few hundred contractors that have worked so far with Pixaware Technologies?
Simple answer.... They probably don't know about this site =)
I'm sure with the right advertisement, they may take the time to put their two cents in too.
Sorry Afroz, I hope by now this company found an "HR" department.

Incorrect information provided by the complainant

Mr PJ has provided incorrect information over here.
Around end of November 2005 or December 2006, Mr PJ asked for a raise of $2.00 from me.
I told him that I will give the money to him as a bonus after the end of the project (as an incentive for him to work till the end of the project). He agreed.
The understanding as far as I believe is that the bonus will be paid from the time it was promised (December 2005) till the end of the project.
The number of resources were reduced by the client, Lucent Technologies, as per the need and agreement.
I had agreement with another contractor, when he was hired, to pay him the bonus at the end of the project (i.e. from day one till the end of the project), but the agreement to PJ was different.
The payment to PJ was made on a Tuesday and he received the money on friday (as per the Band of America direct deposit processing time and conditions. Pl. check with the Bank). I do agree that the payment was delayed for a few weeks, as we had to calculate the bonus due to him and there was the dispute of how much money was owed to him.
There never were any checks written to him that were bounced. I suggest that he provide PROOF of the checks bouncing. And we paid the bonus as promised. PJ wants to rip us off by demanding more Bonus than what was promised. if my company or I were to ripoff the contractors or employees, then here is my two points:
1) PJ writes: "But yet, he's paid another one of the contractors the full amount, over $1400.00!! ".
Then why did we not ripoff this other contractor? It was because we wnet with what we promised each one of them individually.
