***RANT ALERT***

RE: THE CLOTHING STORE BESIDE THE PHARMACY, Placencia Village, Belize, Central America

Here's an interesting rant / ripoff report about an unprofessional business owner in the village who possesses an extreme lack of etiquette, in my humble opinion. Please excuse me in advance as I am very upset right now and although there are many details to this story I am going to make my best attempt to keep it short.

Today while trying to enjoy a mommy daughter day with my little girl, I was approached by a local business owner on the street who demanded $50 from me. This woman owns the clothing store next to the pharmacy above Wallens in Placencia Village. This woman claimed that she had undercharged me for a transaction I made at her store OVER A MONTH AGO. She is unable to provide for me a receipt or transaction record to supplement her claim.

I had discussed this with her before, on the night of the Ladies Gala. She thought it would be appropriate to approach me as a customer that night (that I was also trying to enjoy) and demand that I pay for her mistake after my transaction was completed, several weeks earlier. I offered her the money that night and she told me not to worry about it. I had considered the matter then settled.

Today when she approached me (on my way INTO HER STORE. TO SPEND MONEY.) I was again taken aback. I gave her the money she demanded, and a few minutes later decided to return to her store to let her know my thoughts as to her business ethics.

I invite you all to correct me here if I am wrong, mistaken, or misinformed in any way.

Being a business owner myself, I think this situation to be completely ludicrous. AKA I learned to treat people better than that when I was like 7 years old.

Please allow me to assure you all that should I ever be fortunate enough for you to visit me in my establishment, I would not treat you in this way.

When a business transaction is settled, as far as I am concerned, it is SETTLED. Unless of course, THE CUSTOMER decides to reopen the transaction for any reason, at which point it is MY RESPONSIBILITY as a business owner to reopen the transaction until it has been settled TO THE CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION. I would also hold myself responsible for producing a receipt or sales record for ANY TRANSACTION that EVERY CUSTOMER MAKES at ANY TIME in the past fiscal year.

That said, if I ever forget to ring in a product that any of you should choose to purchase in my establishment, I would consider that my own mistake, and consider it a gift to you in thanks for your patronage.

NEVER will I approach ANY OF YOU at a formal, public event, and demand payment from you for my mistakes. NEVER will I approach ANY OF YOU in the streets of the villages and make you in any way feel badly or regretful for choosing to bring your business to me, as I have been made to feel today (in front of my daughter, no less)

NO CLASS. Sorry for the caps.....
