i recieved a letter with no return address. i opened the letter and there was a check enclosed for $4,980.00. the notice i recived was worded as followed.

sir/madam, we are pleased to inform you that you are one of the declared winners of the SHOPPERS SWEEPSTAKES held on JUNE 5th,2009 in the 2nd category. Ticket serial NO 498561256 drew the lucky winning NO49-55-77-80-02.

We have made many unsuccessful attempts to contact you regaurding this winning. you are therefore entitled to the sum of $250,000.00 US DOLLARS. This is from total prize money of $5 MILLION US DOLLARS that was shared and presented among the other 20 declared winners. Please note that all the participants were selected through a random computer ballot system drawn from over 50,000 names.

Your claim number is WA/SDH-0101 and has been assigned to our North Amarican Claims Affiliate. To expedite the processing enclosed is the check of $4,980.00 US dollars which has been deducted from your winning. The sole purpose of the check is for payment of applicable Goverment Taxes on your big winnings.

The tax amount is $2995.00 US DOLLARS (TWO THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED NINTY FIVE DOLLARS) to be paid by either MONEYGRAM or WESTERN UNION.

Not using my brain, i called this Lewis McGregor at the canadian ph.# above. and an afganastin male answered the phone and demanded that i give him the phone number im calling from. and when i replied as to why he needed my phone number and that the notice i recived didnt state that i needed to give him my phone number. The afganistan male became unconntrolably mean and demanding. Saying that i must give him my phone number. but, after he got loud with me on the phone. it made me mad and i told him i wasnt giving him my phone number until he told me why it was so important that i give him my number im calling from. He never aswered my question. so i told him i was gonna hang up on him if he didnt tell me the reason as to why he was demanding that i must give him my phone number. i still didnt get an answer from the afganistan male. so i hung-up.

I GOOGLED the Company name. and found that this SCAM by LEWIS McGREGTOR. who in the notice and the check enclosed with the notice. that there are TWO diffrent adderesses for the Com[pany Named PLATINUM POINT INC. there's an united states address thats addressed out of FL. and the Canadian address thats addressed out of MORRISTON, ONT. CANADA.

So there you have it. Hopfuly this copy of the true notice that was sent to me can be help to others that get this scam via the mail.
