I purchased a timeshare in Puerto Vallarta Mexico at Playa Del Sol. By Mexican law you are given 5 days to cancel.
Brian MacDonald, the developer representative, said that if I cancelled I would lose my $4000 down payment. I have since discovered this is completely untrue.
I emailed 3 times trying to get my money back and didn't hear back. I finally went online to a website that fights back on behalf of timeshare owners and then I heard from someone from Playa Del Sol. The woman said she couldn't offer me a refund because it was past the 5 days. I told her that it was past the 5 days because he lied to me. She said she would email me but of course I have not heard back from her.
I was also told that I would receive a free golf membership and I was charged for it. This is how Playa Del Sol in Mexico operates. Do not do business with them. They are crooks.
Ken Molinaro is the CEO. Pass this along to everyone you know. If you know of anyone who has been scammed by Playa Del Sol in Mexico please file a ripoff report.
I plan to pursue this with a vengengence. I am even sending a certified letter to Vincente Fox to get his attention. Timeshare fraud is an epidemic and something has to be done about it.

Probably the most viable option is to cancel your timeshare and check if any money can be recovered. Even there, there are companies who will -that might be linked to resell scams- that will claim to have experience and knowledge in the in and outs of the industry to help you recover your deposit. Timeshare industry is full of timeshare scams.

I was scammed by Playa del Sol, they told me it was an investment, they said i didn't have to pay for it if i put it on the rent program, well that was 7 years ago, i have not received any benefits, i have to keep paying it for myself.
