This company is well known for extraordinarily high prices - I knew that fact before I engaged with them but I did so with the expectation of superior service as they reportedly dedicate a lot of the inflated costs they charge to keeping their services top-notch.

I contracted with Plumbline Services in Colorado to do an overhaul of my furnace as well as install two Eternal tankless water heaters.  The HVAC job went splendidly, the system is nice and works well.

A trend with both jobs that I noticed was that the technicians were over-booked and in the instance of my furnace, it is a very advanced unit using color touchscreen internet connected features.  I received not one bit of training on the system, instead I had to do Internet research / guess&check to figure it out.  Not really a big deal there as I'm a techie, but it goes to show their rush nature and lack of attention to detail.   Had I been a non tech-savvy individual I would've been entirely lost.

On to the real ripoff - the water heater installation.  The two plumbers that Plumbline Services dispatched to my home were all over the place with the job.  They arrived without the proper equipment, shut my water services off at 11am but didn't really get started on the job until 4pm.  They were then at my house until 11pm - out in my back yard sawing PVC pipe.  After they heard me complain that the neighbors weren't going to like it, they decided to call it a night and go home.

The next morning, Saturday, they showed up at 8am and promised my children and I would have our hot water back by 10am.  Around noon I noticed they were finally getting into the configuration of these units.  These are somewhat more complex than a tanked water heater in that they have a network cable that connects the two units so they know when to fire on/off based on demand at the tap.

After about an hour listening to them recite things from the owners manual, yell at each other, and complain how complex it was because it was "computerized" they finally sealed everything up and came to tell me it was working.

They left a short time later and I began to start a load of laundry.  My washer complained of low pressure at the hot water tap.  So I went to the basement and investigated at our mana-bloc, the device responsible for distributing water to each of the taps in my home.  I assumed because they were so disorganized to begin with that they had just forgotten a detail of turning back on the taps.  So I found the washer tap and turned it on.  About 30 seconds later I had water running everywhere in my home - down out of the light fixtures in the basement and up through the brand new hardwood flooring on my main level.

I called Plumbline Service's main number and told them what happened - they immediately sent the same plumbers back and also dispatched a water remediation team.  When the plumbers arrived back at my house they started trying to find the source of the leak.  In the process one of the plumbers explained that he had marked the closed taps on the mana-bloc with a letter 'c' before going through and closing off all of the taps on the device while they were working.

We deduced that they had forgotten to turn back on the taps that had been open previously, and they had failed to inform me of noting the 'c' marks on the labels on the mana-bloc.  This resulted in me turning on a tap that went to an uncapped line located in the ceiling.  Had I been informed of the 'c' markings on the labels, and had they turned things back the way they were before, this wouldn't have happened.

Now I am sitting with $20,000 in damage to my home, not to mention $2,000 in stucco damage they caused due to a miscalculation.  When I contacted them about repairing the situaiton I was first told by their service manager how sorry he was for the problems, and "if he could cut a check for the damages right now he would", but due to the amount they figured they would need to involve their insurance company.

The next day they brought me out a part that their techs had broken so another plumbing company could install the part.  They told me all along that they would pay for the damages to my home and to get things up and working right.

Today I contacted them to find out a status, about two weeks after the fact, and I was ignored by the service manager and redirected to the Controller of the company.  The Controller took a firm position in parroting legalease at me that was obviously given to him by an attorney or insurance company.  I was told to go and handle it through my homeowners policy, and that Plumbline was not admitting any fault in any of the damages to my home.

This is going to require me to spend an additional $7k in deductibles and up-front repair costs just to keep my home livable while I wait for my homeowners policy to do the claims process.  Plumbline has pretty much stonewalled me and dropped their customer service and caring about the situation "act"

You can see reviews all over Yelp about how this company truely operates.  They charge a premium, and when things go fine - they're great.  But if something goes wrong they play the "not my fault" game.
