I rented a storage unit in April of 2011. Because a church pastot made the initial call the unit was placed in my exhusbands name only although they had my credit card information amd were suppose to havr my name on file. I made momthly payments the best i could as i was homeless. I was never more than 2 months behind at any given moment and even had an arrangement with them to get caught up on my payments. About 1 year after i kicked my abusive exhusband out of my life for good, out of spite, he"relinquished" the Pod unit forcing them, they said, to put up for auction. The 2 girls (shannon & noelle) employees at Pods bevame enraged because i had to do an inquiry yhrough the attorney generals ofc as to why my name was never associated with this account. The 2 girls had already advised me that i could still continue making payments, but became upset when i qurstioned that after knowing thr auction was inevitable. I called weekly to obtain the auction date, but it took about 3 months for local auction. I eas given a sale date of may 21st. I called them back again to reconfirm the now upcoming auction date on may 15th, only to find out the unit had been sold the day before, on may 14, 2014. All my pics, documents, all 3 childrens livrs as well were in that unit. I had my daughter call them back (as i was physically and mentally unable to do so w/this deception) to see if the buyer could be contacted. They told her that it wasnt their policy. I just wanted my childrens info and pics back. I have used social media and called everyone and placed an ad on craigslist. Even though these items are worthless to anyone else, ate priceless to me.

Unfortunate? PODS Storage Rip-off

You say that I was way behind on my payments? Number One, your so called "customer-service oriented" "company" had my ex-husbands name but my credit card on the original request for a POD to be delivered. Is that not Credit Card Fraud (I am seeking to retain a lawyer); Number two: I made payments on that unit for over three years and remained homeless just to keep this unit paid to prevent losing my personal items. Number 3: I was behind 2 payments and made arrangements with Shannon and Noelle to continue paying every other week until caught up. Number 4: I made a payment when I made that agreement and my ex-husband shows up in person (from what they told me HAD TO HAVE HAPPENED and changed the address, you locked up the unit and said that it was now going to auction since he "relinquished" the unit (which should have had my name on the unit from the beginning anyway Number 5: Noelle stated that I could still make payments on the unit, but that because my ex-husband "relinquished it" that you had no choice but to auction it anyway. So then I ask "Why would I make payments on a storage unit if you are going to auction it anyway? Wouldnt that be like "shooting myself in the foot?". After I contacted the State of Indiana's Attorney General's Office, Noelle took it personally that I was "trying to get you in trouble" and refused to be of anymore assistance. I dont know who this is or why it took me going through Rip-Off report to respond to me personally, but it's okay. I have a credit card lawsuit, at least, that I can file against you. Thanks for all your help and I will make sure to NEVER, EVER, recommend your storage facility as you are some cold-hearted people. Also, be informed that the TIGTA department of the Treasury also looking into this as I am a Federal employee and my tax documents as well as birth certificate and Social security card was in that unit as well as all my children/grandchild's info.

While this situation for you is unfortunate THIS is the main problem...... I was never more than 2 months behind at any given moment..... That right there was the big issue. They can take and sell YOUR stuff if your even one day late. Now most places dont do this, but if your items went to auction then you were quite a ways behind in your payments. I can understand youre upset, but it IS a business. When YOU dont pay your storage fees OTHER people do not get paid. While to YOU it may seem unfair, there IS a reality that you are ignoring. That reality is that YOU were that far behind and they got tired of waiting for you to catch up.
The ONLY option you may have is if they will give you the name of the person who purchased YOUR stuff and see if you can make arrangments to buy back the photos. You cant be mad at them for wanting to get paid. YOU would do the same thing if YOU ran that type of business. Business runs on money NOT charity. Accept that the stuff is lost. Nothing THEY have done is illegal, immoral, or wrong in ANY way shape of form. Its JUST the cost of business. If you think they like selling off ppls stuff, then you would be wrong.
