Sadly for my life, I was not protected by the Stark Law that prohibits a physician to refer a Medicare or Medicaid patient to a medical facility, if he has a financial relationship with that entity. A conflict of interest that the law maker thought may lead to unnecessary surgical procedures. Too late for my life, I have learned that my referring physician was no other than the owner himself of Pontchartrain Surgery Center.

He referred me to his own facility for what he called a simple procedure and also allowed his anesthesiologist to perform an unnecessary lumbar puncture on me while I was under general anesthesia. Not only that this surgery was not a simple one, but it was also described by other physicians as a total scam surgery. As a result of this fraudulent negligent surgery, I was left me on permanent disability and atrocious physical suffering for the rest of my life.

Tragically for my life, I am not able to work anymore, I can barely stand on my feet and most basic functioning is impossible for me. With no Stark Law in place for private insurers, the immoral, incompetent and indifferent physicians, those with no value for human life and unlimited greed are free to benefit from unnecessary surgeries in their own ambulatory centers.

These should be called criminal surgeries and not unnecessary surgeries. And after the surgery? When I was already injured and damaged for life irreversibly, this very same physician was willing to proceed with additional unnecessary surgical procedures.
