Porter's Auto & RV Sales Don't make a $500.00 or $1,000.00 mistake by buting an RV at Porter's RV Sales Williamston, South Carolina

On June 11, 2011, myself, my wife and three of my grandchildren visited Porter's RV Sales. We had traveled from Jacksonville, Florida the day before, made contact with the place of business by stopping there on our way to a motel for the night. I had seen an RV on their website. I wanted to take a look at the unit. It was not what I had imagined. There was another unit on their lot that I saw Saturday morning, June 11, 2011. It was a Monaco La Palma motor home. I made an offer on this unit, and I placed a substantial deposit on the unit. I had asked a question of Randy Porter that morning, and I explained I could not find the air brake on this unit. Mr. Porter looked abound the driver's side of the unit, and he could not find it either. I was under the impression that all diesel motor home units came equipped with air bags and air brakes.

When I returned to Jacksonville, I did research on that particular unit and found that it did not have the air ride, air bags or air brakes. On June 14, 2011 I notified them by phone that I did not want the unit. We talked about another unit, but the price difference was too great.  My deposit check was deposited promptly and cleared my bank on June 14, 2011. I waited six weeks for my deposit to be returned. I called them. That is when I was told they were keeping $500.00 of my deposit, and to consider myself lucky because they usually keep $1,000.00. I have sent two registered letters. They refused the first one, and I have heard nothing regarding the second one. At no time was I told a portion of my deposit would be kept if the deal was not finalized. There is nothing in writing that I was presented. This seems to me like theft. I have received $9,500.00 and would the remaining $500.00 returned to me.
