Poulan Husqvarna A product built to fail, Internet

This Poulan String trimmer P4500 is a product I would not recommend. The string head is known to have built in defects that can't be repaired.  If you call service,  you get a company that sells parts.  You are not talking to Poulan.  There are no diagrams for you to see how to replace user serviceable parts. There is no service because the parts sales people only have a parts list. 

  The bumper head, or piece that holds the line,  is made with two gromets to guide the string that fall out within a few weeks.  If one falls out,  the whole thing is imbalanced and it vibrates terribly.  If it flies out at you, it is probably going about 50 MPH, good luck where it strikes. They built it this way because these are known to fly out and they do not sell replacements. You are forced to purchase a complete new head.

Try to replace the old bumper head/line feeder piece with a new one.  When I followed the instructions, placing the screwdriver in the slot,  unscrewing the head,  the metal housing that the slot is in broke open and the drive shaft is now exposed.  If you think you can unscrew the head by hand, think again.

So to sum up, they seem to know the trimmer will fail pretty fast, that they can't offer any service except to sell you a part for the product they know you are going to need.  If you use it with out the gromet, or with only one, you have an imbalanced vibrating machine that can be dangerous.

There is no service at Poulan.  There doesn't appear to be a conscience either.
