I purchased an extended warranty from Prco on a 2000 GMC Denali in August of 2007 for $1999.00. I bought the warranty from a used car dealer to protect my vehicle. In November of 2007 my vehicle broke down due to a blown engine. Since, I had extended warranty on my vehicle I took my car to a dealer for repair. As I thought the engine was bad. I gave all of the warranty information to the dealer and assumed all would be fine. I also followed up with the warranty company to make sure everything was going along well with my car.Prco informed me to authorize a tear down to determine the problem of the engine failure. I did so with no problem.

Two days after I placed my vehicle in the shop for repair; I received a call from the dealer that prco informed them they would not cover the repair to my vehicle, and I was responsible for the $1200.00 tear down and diagnosis charge for my vehicle. I must note, I had to call prco to find out why they would not cover my vehicle. Prco never informed me of anything. It appears that the contract has a clause in it they says they do not cover engine failure due to contaminants of fluids or lubricants.

Prco sent an adjuster form their company to inspect my vehicle, and he determined the damage was caused from a faulty intake manifold that leaked coolant into the engine oil. The dealer where I sent my car for repair informed my self and Prco, they could not determine exactly why the engine failed; however, they could only determine the cause which was damaged bearings.

My vehicle was at the manufacture's dealer for repair, who is experts on the vehicle. I informed prco of the repairing dealer's opinion, but they would not hear anything I had to say. Prco refused to pay any charges at all. In fact prco informed me that I should have purchased the optional gaskets and seals package, which I was never offered from the selling dealer. I informed the prco warranty covered every part of my vehicle.

At this point I went back to the selling dealer and informed them of the problem I was having with prco. They offered to cover half of the repair amount of my vehicle which was over $5000.00. The dealer informed me to cancel the prco warranty. I cancelled the warranty; however, only received $1700 of the $1999.00 back from prco because I had the warranty for two months.Prco claims the amount was the pro rated amount of the 36 month warranty.

I filed a complaint with the California insurance board and the BBB; however, nothing really came of the complaints. I did receive a letter from a represent from prco a Frank A .Piacente informing me of how fortunate I should be the dealer offered to pay half of the cost of the repair. I found that very interesting they were even aware of private conversation I had with the selling dealer.
