Pre-Paid Legal ripoff, incompetent, ridiculous Ada Oklahoma

I signed up with this company thinking it would be helpful--what a joke!

First, the various sales people that are all over the Internet promised different plan coverage. I found a guy who rebated the first month so I could see for myself. After I joined, I told the company about all the misinformation I had been getting. The company admitted they knew the sales people "exagerated." Didn't I know that? They didn't care!

It was all down hill after that. Although they say they are nationwide and can help you where you need it, the network is full of holes and they couldn't find any competent attorneys in the large city where I needed one. It was one broken promise after another. One lawyer they finally referred me to (it took weeks) asked for documents, which I copied and sent 2nd day, and she never got back to me! Never! I left several messages and she never returned the calls--it's been weeks now. What a waste of money and time! They don't care!

On and on it goes. Every time you call, you are on hold for many minutes, and you have to give your member number, name, address, phone, etc., over and over again. The simplist issue and it's always the same. You're only a number to them. Every call is screened through their system so you almost never get to talk to the attorney directly. They are like the worst insurance company you've ever dealt with! When you need them, they aren't there and often don't return calls so you're left hanging.

After many, many weeks, I was finally able to get a short letter out, one that I had drafed myself. The stupid attorney added that the rip-off business should contact me directly, which I never asked for and didn't want!

I asked the attorney and Pre-Paid Legal why that was done and they said it's standard, although that's not in the plan guide and they never told me it would be done that way. Now this horrible situation is back in my lap, more tangled than ever. How stupid is that? Yet they think it's fine. It's standard!

After struggling for almost 2 months to get something done (and dozens of calls, many of which were never returned), I can say this is one of the most dysfunctional and incompetent organizations I've ever dealt with. Don't bother joining. You'll have to manage the operation for them because they can't! You'll waste hours on the phone and come away with little or nothing useful!

I also note that on many of the other complaints for Pre-Paid Legal, they have "plants" who add rebuttals to these postings to discredit the posters. "You should read the plan," and comments like that. It's all so bogus. I'm sure they will add something cute to this post eventually! They'll come up with some creative spin to make me look stupid. That they have time for!
