I took my Mazda to Precision Tune of Salinas in February to have the brakes serviced. I left the shop to take my 4 year old child on a walk around town instead of trying to sit in the tiny shop the whole time. When I returned I was told that the car needed new rotors and that they had installed them instead of just resurfacing them, and that the brake pads they put on had a lifetime warranty. When I asked if the pad were the cheap ones that squeaked, the manager, Jim told my that the noise was normal while the rotors were broken in.

My husband returned the car at the end of March because the brakes were making horrible noises and it was getting worse, not better. The manager, Jim, told my husband that it sounded like the calipers and it would be $100.00 to look at it! I called the corporate office in Virginia and reported the incident with Cindy. We were told it was all a big missunderstanding and that Jim had said it would probably cost $100.00 per caliper and they would waive the labor fees.

My husband returned the car and Jim showed his the rotors on the car, telling him that the uneven wear on the rotors indicated that the calipers were bad and needed to be replaced, and it would cost around $250.00. We never received a written estimate. He mentioned telling me something about replacing the rotors instead of resurfacing them. We decided not to have any more work done there, and save the money to have the work done at the dealer.

We took the car to the dealer on August 27, and were informed that all of the problems we were having were because the rotors had never been replaced and had been machined below specs and they found no problem with the calipers. I called the corporate office and left 3 messages 3 days in a row before Cindy returned my call, and she argued with me and tried to convince me it was all my fault, but she would forward the issue to the District Manager. I e-mailed the district office and got no response.

My husband called Cindy and got the same attitude and answer. When he confronted Jim, he was asked if he beleived the dealer over him! My husband asked him about the rotors and he changed his story three times! First he said they were new, then he said new rotors had to be resurfaced when you took them out of the box, and then he said they don't put resurfaced rotors on cars! I still have the rotors!

These guys are really up to no good and something needs to be done. It's been almost 2 weeks and no one from the corporate office or district office has responded, other than Cindy.
