Same as other people have claimed, I received my wireless bill this month to find 2 charges on the bill, one for $5.00 and the other for $9.99.  I called Verizon Wireless to find out what the charges were for and was informed that I had subscribed to a monthly contest texting service.  I told her I had never done anything of the sort as I am not a contest entering type of person.  I told her I had never authorized any such service and wanted the charges removed from my account.  She said that the company charging me for the services had to cancel my account or the charges would continue every month.

I was very upset and confused as to how such a service could be added to my bill.  She explained the various ways it could have happened and mentioned online job applications.  That rang a bell for me as I had applied for a job through Job.com a couple weeks prior. On one of the application screens, it asked for cell number, which I provided.  A pop-up screen appeared, asking if I'd like to vote on something.  I clicked 'NO' and proceeded with my job application.  I received 2 texts pertaining to MTV awards, or the such, and ignored the texts.  I never subscribed to anything or agreed to any services.

The Verizon CSR tried to call Predicto Mobile on my behalf to cancel the services, but Predicto refused, claiming that she was not calling from the cell number in question.  The Verizon CSR gave me Predicto's 800# (1-800-360-0518) to call for myself.  I called them immediately and was told that my account had been cancelled, my phone number was blocked in their system, I would receive no more text messages and that I would receive a refund for the charges I had already been charged.  She was very nice and very apologetic; however, until I receive my next bill and see the refund, I'm not very pleased.

I sure hope no one else gets scammed like this.  However, unfortunately, I know Predicto is going to continue scamming people every way they can until they're closed down by the authorities.

Predicto Customer Service

AUTHOR: Predicto Customer Service - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, October 07, 2010

We are sorry to hear about your experience.  Please be aware that we at PredictoMobile take customer satisfaction very seriously and would like to address any concerns you may have.  You can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 800-360-0518 so that we can resolve your inquiry; you can also contact our customer service at http://predicto.com/support or by sending an SMS message with the word HELP to 654654.  Keep in mind, we post our toll-free customer service number on our website and include it in SMS messages we send to your cell phone.

Please note we use an industry best practice double opt-in to prevent inadvertent or fraudulent sign-ups.  To enroll in our service, a prospective member must first submit their cell phone number on the PredictoMobile sign-up page which clearly explains our terms and conditions including the monthly price of the service and billing to the cell phone.  We then send a text message to their cell phone which includes a unique pin and which again discloses the essential membership terms.  They then must correctly enter the PIN on our website or reply with a confirmation SMS message from their cell phone to activate the account.  The double opt-in process and clear disclosures ensures a high level of consumer protection and satisfaction and virtually ensures that there are no inadvertent, accidental, or fraudulent signups. Our system verify every step of the double opt in process down to the nanosecond.  If a member wants to cancel the service, they can simply text stop to 654654 or call Customer Service or go to http://predicto.com/support.  In addition, our Terms and Conditions do not restrict anyone from calling to cancel an account, or from calling from a particular number.

We hope this addresses any concerns you may have; if not please contact us and well take care of your issues.

Sincerely,

Customer Service

PredictoMobile
