Approximately 7 months ago my wife purchased a used 2013 KIA optima which we believed was safety checked. Last night she was traveling on I-91 when her rear driver side tire exploded causing her to serve off the highway.
Thankfully Kimberly did not get injured but some minor damage was done to the vehicle. We towed the vehicle to a local Town Fair tire to have it repaired and on inspection we found that the rim had been welded and was not holding the proper amount of air.
As it was explained to me by the technician that the tire exploded due to overheating from improper tire pressure. I contacted your service department and was told they do not warrantee tires or rims. To my dismay I tried to explain the situation and called the sales manager of the used car department.
After my detailed explanation of the occurrence I politely asked what can be done. I was once again told there was nothing I could do about and I was just threatening him to get something for nothing.

Car Owners responsibility

It is standard on this site that when someone doesn't like what was said they accuse the people of working for the company. I think I have probably been accused of working for more than a couple dozen companies...each and every time just like this one, they are wrong. The same goes for the other posters, if you actually look around this site. The only thing that the poster does in doing this is show how they don't have anything to defend their actions.
The fact is that after 7 months any tire pressure issue falls squarly on the vehicle owner. You can scream "weldded rim" from morning to night, but had the rim been an issue the tire would not have lasted 7 months...it may not have even lasted 7 days. So no, the one reason and one reason only that the tire blew out was because of improper maintenance.
You said the car had a "Safety Inspection". Okay so what did that include?
Did they give you a list of things they checked? Was the Tire Rim on that list? My guess is no on both of these questions. But even if they did perform a Safety Inspection on the rim,....in 7 months who knows how much damage your wife's driving habbits could have caused. But remember..it wasn't the Rim that failed....it was the tire, and with the exception of the warranty you get when you buy a tire, there isn't a single warranty out there that covers tires. By most standards if the tires had a minium tread depth and didn't show any signs of excessive wear they would be safe.
But if you really want to see how strong of a case you have, you can put this to the test. Go to your mechanic and tell him you have decided to sue the dealer. Tell him that you need his testimony that the tire failed for the sole reason that it was a weldded rim AND that it was so obvious that the dealer should have known. If by some chance the mechanic says sure they will...then sue. But what will most likely happen is that the mechanic will back track so fact the wind he makes will blow you over.

You claim that it's non related individuals posting rebuttals. No one would be this involved in this post unless they were trying to cover up a negligent action. All I wanted was good old fashioned customer service instead I received a rude and nasty comment after I just explained my wife was almost injured due to a bad rim. If you and your company acted in a professional manner we would not be in this position. I will continue to fight for the simple fact that maybe the next customer will be better served by my actions.

If the owner and service department put in the same amount of work defending their negligent actions as in inspecting their products this would have never been an issue

Failure to maintain proper air pressure in your tires is a clear case of operator negligence.

Selling defective merchandise

KIA did not safety check the vehicle before they sold the car. The Rim was welded! When I explained this I was told not there problem and now your rebuttal is it's all my wife's fault. If this is how you handle customer service I would rather not be a customer. Thank god she did not get injured in the defective product you sold her.

7 Months..

If you or your wife was performing proper maintenence on your car you would be checking the tires once a month. If you and your wife would have performed proper maintenance you would have had at least one(and perhaps 2) oil changes. Where at the mechanic would would check for proper inflation, and if there was an issue with the tire bring this to your attention.
This is also not even including that even just a daily quick look at your car, you should have seen if something was a bit out of the ordinary.
So by you now trying to blame the dealer you are also admitting you have not performed proper maintenance. So you can call this a RipOff all day long, but you are the one at fault and thankfully your negligence didn't cause any injury to your wife.

How Sorry Does It Get???

It is YOUR car which runs on four tires which are YOURS. You admitted to having this car seven months and by association, you admit to not ever checking tire pressure! Any idiot with half a brain knows the need for proper tire inflation. YOU very obviously NEVER checked yours and when the tire blows, oh yes, it's all the fault of the dealer! You sorry blame throwers make decent people sick!!!!
