On November 29, 2007, I received a phone call from a company trying to get me to subscribe to megazines for $24.99/month. No matter what I said, they would not take no for an answer. I finally got mad and said yes to the megazines. Usually something like this you could call back and unsubscribe no problem. So after I went through the whole process and "verbal agreement", I called back ten minutes later to unsubscribe. They company answered the phone, "Customer Service?" What kind of company was this? I couldn't tell. The woman that I spoke to said I couldn't unsubscribe and that I had the best deal to offer. I was still upset and hung up. I waited for about a month to see if anything would come in the mail. Much to my surprise, I received another phone call and this time the company was wondering where my payment was and that it was declined through the bank. I said this was fine because I didn't have the money for this "megazine" ordeal. The company kept telling me that they needed the payment and if I didn't pay, they would keep calling and sending statements. A couple of weeks later, I received a statement in the mail dated 1/16/2008. The bill was for $49.98. What happened to the $24.99/month? Now this is upsetting. The company listed on the statement is called PRS out of Atlanta, GA. I had received a phone call on Saturday, January, 26, 2008 at approx 10:00am EST. I missed the call due to personal reasons. About an hour later, I called the number listed on the statement. I spoke with Mr. Johnson at ext. 2028. I told Mr. Johnson that I do not have a job, no money, and my family is helping me with my expenses. Once again, I heard the statement that if I didn't pay, they would keep calling and sending statements. He also stated that if payment wasn't received, they would send the bill to a third party collection agency and they would have to get their money. I asked if I could unsubscribe from the magazines. I was told that I would have to pay some $437.00 to get out of it. That is ridiculous to someone who doesn't want any magazines to begin with. So I spoke with Mr. Johnson and said that I was pregnant and I couldn't take this type harassment and I would pay the $49.98 due and that was it or I would get a lawyer. After I got off the phone with Mr. Johnson, about 12:15pm EST, I threw up my breakfast because I was so upset. To keep receiving phone calls on a monthly basis asking me where my payment is when I have stated to PRS I don't have any money, is simply harassment. I request that PRS take my number off their contact list and stop calling me. If I get any type of statement or phone call after this letter, I will be filing charges for harassment and taking it to court.
