I purchased a used vehicle from a reputable Dealer in my area in March of 1999. Shortly after I got the vehicle, I received several offers for extended warranty coverage through the mail. I bought one from Premier Warranty Group of Oklahoma City, OK. Everything was fine until I noticed a problem with the automatic transmission shifting properly. I contacted the dealer and made an appointment to have it checked. There was a Fifty dollar fee to check it out. I paid the fee only to learn that it was an internal problem. I contacted Premier Warranty Group, and they said that I would have to agree to cover the tear down fee so that the cause of failure could be determined. I had the transmission torn down and learned that the Torque Converter had failed, there was damage to a pump, seal, shaft and bushing. The dealer contacted Premier Warranty Group and faxed them a copy of the estimate. The warranty company called me and said that they had determined that the cause of failure was "normal wear and tear" and that my claim had been denied. I am facing an$1800.00 bill for repair of a transmission that is covered under a worthless extended warranty.

Let this serve as a word to the wise,DONT BUY A SERVICE CONTRACT THROUGH THE MAIL.

Warranty Company Falsely Accused By Consumer

AUTHOR: Don - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, March 19, 2002

The complaint against our company is from an unsatisfied consumer, but that is no reason to falsely accuse a company for following this consumer's contract provisions in not paying for the repairs to their vehicle's transmission.

What this individual failed to mention in this report was that they had a chance to add the coverage for "Normal Wear & Tear" to their contract for this repair to be paid by our company but opted not to do so. They had a minimum of two opportunities to purchased this valuable rider protection for only $28.70 per year, failed to take advantage of it and then when their repair was properly denied for lack of coverage per their contract provisions, they were obvious mad about their own stupidity but decided to take it out on our company by filing this report.

Unfair accusations made publicly without the complete facts shared with the many viewers of this web site.

Extended Warranties are a valuable product if purchased properly and not to be used for known repairs that are needed to a vehicle prior to the purchase of the extended warranty.
