On 04/18/2011 the last day to file my taxes, I decided to go to Premium Income Tax in the city of Bell because I did not see alot of people waiting to do their taxes. That alone should have been a red flag for me.

I paid $80.00 to have them fill out the long form for me, the lady looked confused she even had to call another office in L.A. so she said to calculate my figures right. She said she did them electronically and that everything was alright, I would receieve a return on my state tax.

I waited for my refund for 8 weeks when I decided to call about my refund, the I.R.S. said they never received anything electronically or in the mail for me. I told them I had copies of everything they ( Premium Income Tax) gave me. The I.R.S. agent said sorry but nothing was ever received.

I have tried to call them back numerous times I left messages for them, I even went to their offices. The neighbors who live around there said they have not opened since April. Now I`m stuck having to pay for my taxes all over again because these people never did their jobs.

Filling Taxes

Thank you for your info on that last comment, I failed to mention that I owe money on the federal $450.00 I`m getting a refund only on my state taxes. I don`t know how it is in your state, but in California many people know about the extension. I should have stayed with my regular tax man, but by trying to save time and money it slapped me in the face. $80.00 also might not seem like alot of money to you, but to me that`s almost a couple of meals that I could use to put food on the table for my kids. As for the lesson learned, yeah they fooled me once but never again. It`s funny how on their answer machine, they say they are still taking appointments all year. Effin Liars, I tried it myself but to no avail.

Filing Taxes

Not having anybody waiting to file their taxes on April 18 was not necessarily a sign of a problem.  Most people had filed by April 15, not knowing about the extension, so it would not have been unusual to not have people in line.

Based on the comments you made that you were expecting a refund, then you should refile your taxes.  Apparently your taxes have been paid previously as you have a refund due.  Therefore you will not be assessed a penalty or interest.

It is a common practice that most tax preparation services close after the tax season ends.  It is unlikely you will find anybody at Premium Income Tax until near 2012.  Take your paperwork to a tax office or CPA that is currently open, or go to the nearest IRS office for assistance.  You are not out of anything except the $80 you paid for the return.  Lesson learned:  Don't use that office again.
