Pressler And Pressler - New Centuryfinancial Services excessive interest ad penalties Parsippany, New Jersey

I fell behind in my debt because of my divorce, My debt wound up with Pressler and Pressler.I made arrangements to pay them and was making my payments, when I became unemployed. Not wanting to incur the wrath of a collection agency ,I call them informed them of my situation.They siezed my checking account with $800.00 in it, nothing I could do! So I called and cotinued to make Payments when I could.This Past January I became unemployed again, I called and consulted with them again,was making payments when I could. September 2009 I received notice that they were leviing my car, I called and asked what this meant. The clerk told me that  I would not be able to do anything with my car (sell,transfer, anythng else).Then I asked how much was my debt originally, I was told $2100.00 then I asked how much I had paid, I was informed that I had paid back $2900.00. Then I inquired how much I still owed, I was shocked with what the clerk told me He said that I still owed $3200.00 I was shocked, I dont think that any part of this is fair or legal for that matter. A friend is having the same problem ,he investigated and found info that Pressler and Pressler has been prosecuted for fraud concerning New Century Fiancial and there dealings. This  prompted me to do something about this, I am going to consult an attorney, but I am not sure about the legality of all this.Being broke and unemployed leaves an individual vunerable to these Conmen Lawyers or not.
