In June 2004 I purchased a GSD from Mr Albers. I call the transaction my $3500 lesson. After reading the ripoff reports on this website I think I must have gotten the 'cream of the crop'.
My dog, Vegas, came to us horribly underweight-ribs, spine & hip bones protruding. He had an extreme submissive/excitment urination problem.
He was scared to death of my husband and just about every male he came in contact with. I could go on and on. I paid for an AKC german shepherd dog and got a terrified, maltreated dog of unknown orgin.
When attempting to get answers and paperwork from James Albers I pretty much got empty promises and outright lies.
I reported him to the Kansas Better Business Bureau, Kansas Animal Protection and the Kansas Attorney General's office.
The Attorney General's office tried to catch up with Mr Albers, but he had already moved out of state.
I fell in love with my dog, Vegas, and would never give him up. He is, now a year later, a beautiful boy with a wonderful temperment and not afraid of my husband anymore! But usless for show, breeding(he is now nutered) or anything other than a family pet(he does not alert to ANYTHING).
James Albers is the worst kind of crook. If I can help anyone in any way to put this creep out of business, I will.

When I began my association with Mr Albers, his operation was in Holcomb, Kansas. The Kansas Attorney Generals Office, during their investigation discovered, and informed me, that Mr Albers had moved his operation. That office also advised me to file a complaint with the Missouri Attny Gen. office as well as BBB and any other agency that may be applicable. When I am on summer break from my job I will do so.
My husband and I attended obedience classes with Vegas last fall. They helped all three of us.

If this breeder is in Missouri, sending all that information to Kansas won't help. I know that you are upset about being ripped off, but if you care about your canine companion, have your husband take him to obedience classes. Since he has fear of human males (not a good sign coming from a breeder) obedience class is a great bonding opportunity for your husband and your dog. I hope everyone gets together and DOES shut this creep down.
