Received call on 10-30-2003 offering credit card with low rate. I did not have bad credit, just purchased a home. Told by George Brine at ext. 846 that $187 was for discounts. Verifier called to make sure info was correct, and when I asked to confirm the 9% interest rate, she told me she couldn't guarantee that. Therefore, I cancelled immediately.

Within five minutes, George Brine called me back and said if I had any problems to call him at 1-416-542-1611 ext. 846. When I didn't receive my card after the money was taken from my bank, I called again and again with the assurance it should have been sent to me, and they were calling Chase to see why the delay.

They told me they had placed it with Chase Manhattan Bank, (being a large bank) I didn't foresee any problems.

I received the Benefit Package in the mail, with a Book called "The National Credit Guide to the USA." The packet I received through the mail was worthless, for they are the discount company. When I called to speak with George, Steve the Supervisor, Al, and everyone else I spoke with after numerous calls, refused to connect me for "he is in the Sales Department" and the Customer Service Dept. handles all calls.

I asked for the number of the Corporate Office, and they said they didn't know the number. I asked who paid their paychecks and a gal named Marilyn told me she didn't know, she just stuck her check in the bank. I laughed at her, and said "she has got to be kidding!)

After numerous calls, to just about everyone there, I finally received an envelope from Chase Manhattan Bank. It was an application for Secured Credit! Again the phone calls to Prime One, with no satisfaction.

Please, Please be advised, that I called Chase who never heard of Prime One, and they suggested I contact the F.T.C., and the New York States Attorneys Office, which I did. I also filed a complaint with the National Better Business Bureau, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York Division.

Be advised too!, that the phone numbers you dial to get in touch with them are not New York phone numbers, but Toronto, Canada., in which I incurred well over $100.00 in International long distance phone calls. At $.80/minute, it added up. Therefore, I contacted my phone company here, and they are investigating the firm in addition to everyone else listed above. When I told the phone company of the Fraud, they are not going to charge me the long distance charges.

Prime One Benefits, including their other named companies, will delay the process until 60 days after contact. That way, alot of folks scammed by them will not be able to get their money back.

Go to the National Better Business Bureau website, and you will see ALL complaints submitted regarding this company. By the way....... I emailed NBC, and CBS for investigative reporting. If they get enough complaints from us, perhaps they will do a story on these sorry people.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

It looks like you have this one under control

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

The contact info is great, and now I'd like to track them into Ontario, Canada.

I realize you have contacted the F.B.I., but am merely suggesting that you contact the Federal Trade Commission as well. You can access their site through www.ftc.gov, and there is an online complaint form, which will help their investigations. They respond to high numbers faster. The link for the complaint form is at the top and bottom of their homepage.

They are a ruling entity and specialize in handling business fraud, when this type of fraud creates unfair, deceptive trading practices, and victimizes consumers.

I also wanted to suggest that you save those telephone bills. Save the copy of the initial bill, and then the one that detailed the payment readjustment. It was great that your phone company helped you out. Sometimes it gives me hope, when they make that type of an adjustment. Those phone bills might be helpful for an investigation.

For your phone company, bank, and possibly credit card it might help other victims, if you share a copy of your Rip-off Report, and refer them to this site. Your phone company might be interested in running their own investigation, and your bank will be better prepared to shield other bank account holders.

I hope it works out, and if possible get back to us, if you find out more about the situation.

Thank you
