On December 5, 2017, my wife ordered 4 pairs of custom imprinted socks through the printyourpet.com website.  The website said there was a 4-6 week turnaround time.  On January 31, 2018, she followed up with an email to the company, at which time she was given a response indicating severe backlogs, that they were trying to hire additional staff, and that it may be another 4-6 weeks.

My wife sent the following email:

I need some actual information as to when my order will be delivered. I placed my order on December 4th. We are now well beyond the 5-6 weeks
delivery estimation--which itself is beyond your normal order completion promise. I have received no actual communication as to the status of my order
than the stock response about hiring more people in order to shorten order fulfillment. At this point, I ought to report you for theft. Give me a date by which I can expect delivery of my order.

The company responded:

We don't have "stock" communications we are real people. You can just email our lawyer legal@printyourpet.com with yours and let's just prove this all in court. Instead of your random baseless threats. As you can see, there wasn't a threat, just a statement that they ought to be reported for theft.  This response prompted another email from my wife:

As a customer who as paid, in full, my balance and has patiently waited for the 4-6 weeks, twice over, for my delivery, I believe that your response--in content and tone--in completely unacceptable.

Below is the e-mail I received on 1/31. Beneath that is the permanent message on your website. Can you see why it sounds like a stock response? The 4-6 weeks bit and the back log bit and the "hiring new staff" piece are all the same. There is no customized response as to when my order will be fulfilled. This is all on top of the fact that January 31st was already more than six weeks past the time that I placed my order on December 4th. And here we are a further five weeks out from the January 31st dare. Your tone suggests that I should not feel like I have any right to expect that, when I pay you money, you ought to deliver my goods.

Furthermore, I did not write that I would do anything against you (i.e. a threat) but I that I "ought" to given how your company has behaved so far. I notice also that you did not offer to refund me my money, nor address my concerns about delivery--does this mean that you intend to keep my money without fulfilling the order?

All that I am asking is that you fulfill the terms of our contract. When you took my money, you agreed to fulfill my order. When you posted on your website back in December and e-mailed me on 1/31 that the turn around would be 4-6 weeks, I had the expectation that I would have received my order by now. Now you have the audacity to be upset with my discontent at your failure to either deliver my goods or at least  give me a date to expect my order. Ship my goods or return my money.

The company's response:

Remove the review or edit it to reflect the refund or getting the item is the only way we are working with you. Instead of threats you back track as soon as we meet you head on - so get your attorney to email us if you want to presue the other options no one is scared or hiding or not answering every single email you send.

The response here was ridiculous.  The company did not process a refund, and they have not shipped the product.  All they have done is taken the money, then get angry when they are held to account.  As a paying customer, all we want is the product.  We have allowed for delays (beyond reason) and been received with rudeness, threats, and requests to remove a poor review that they have earned, without even attempting to resolve the matter.  We are out $130 for a product that was not shipped.  That qualifies as theft of service,  The company has an F rating with BBB, and has 143 reviews on trustpilot.com with an average rating of .6 stars.
