About two weeks ago, I joined prizebook.com. It's a site where you "get paid" to sign up for various offers. Anyway, I signed up, did some offers, and got paid once. I liked it, so I figured that I would sign up for more and make some more cash. Well, don't be fooled folks. When you sign up for these offers, and give all of these companies your credit card info, you are asking for trouble. I found this out the hard way. I started out with $233 in my checking account, signed up for an offer from FTD Flowers. Basically, I would earn 10 bucks for buying flowers. Well, it's our anniversary and I was going to buy flowers anyway, so I figured what the hell. Well, I found what I wanted from Ftd, checked out and thought my order went through. Moments later I received an e-mail stating that I had to make a substitution, because what I wanted wasn't available at all. However, this charge still went on my debit card. Ok, I called Ftd, they explained, said the charge would be removed. After this, I signed up for MagazineBurst. The offer states that you get 4 magazine subscriptions for $27. However, when you get to the site, the magazines displayed in the offer aren't available. In the terms it states that there is a small handling fee for each selection. I checked my bank account, there is a charge for $78. When I contacted support at prizebook, they told me that this was just a hold and I would be charged the normal price. Well, turns out that it's not true. Magazine Burst called me and explained that it's $51 for shipping! They cancelled my order, but the charge is still there.

On top of that I had an unauthorized charge from one of the advertisers whose offer I had signed up for. It was for a trial of sleeping pills, but it was just a 7 day trial and since I paid shipping, there was nothing more to pay. They charged me 34.14. I contacted them and they stated they would cancel my account. Anyway, because of this, my account got overdrawn and I had to pay $61 in overdraft fees. I contacted prizebook, and here's what happened. The first message is from me.

Well, you are wrong about the hold thing. What they don't tell on the site is that their small handling fee comes to $51 total. These offers are starting to really suck, I ordered through FTD and they couldn't provide the product they said was available, then this magazine stuff. Previously, I signed up for the free trial of esssleep, paid the shipping for the 7 day supply, and they said there was nothing more to buy if I didn't want to. Well, even though I had e-mailed customer service, they still added a 34.14 authorization on my card. I straightened this out with them, but because of this unexpected authorization, my checking account was overdrawn, and they charged me overdraft fees of 61.00. This sucks.

We're sorry you got charged that amount but everything is presented to you before you hit submit for the order.

No, everything is not presented before hitting submit. They tell you that you get charged a small handling fee for each selection, but they don't say it's 51 dollars! They don't even have the magazines advertised with the offer. You guys should check these offers better. I learned my lesson though, and I won't use this site anymore. This site is a ripoff, you spend more money than you make, and all of these companies find ways to rip people off. Doing GPT sites is waste of money. I'm going to post this on ripoffreport.com. F***this site, I'm out.

Admin response | 2007-06-20 21:04:49

Sorry you feel that way but if that were really true, then the 100,000 members we have would've reported it to that site. Unfortunately for you, we're the #1 ranked GPT site and you just did the wrong offers. However, we don't care if you want to blame us for your mistake. Thanks anyway.

Admin response | 2007-06-20 21:06:46

Please do follow through with your promise to report us on ripoffreport.com and we'll gladly okay the advertisers and tell them you committed credit card fraud by cancelling a lot of the offers and they will do an auto debit on your accounts. We'll go ahead and close your account after this as comments such as "F*** this site" and "This site is a ripoff" after we spent our time and money helping you out isn't exactly the kind of thanks we were hoping. It really should be "F*** Thomas ****" and "This user is a ripoff" as you were the ones that scammed and frauded our advertisers.

They are mad

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 21, 2007

Well, after filing this rip-off report, prizebook.com contacted paypal to do just what they said they would. They have disputed the payments I earned and are trying to get the money back. It's not going to work. They are trying to say that I scammed them just because I cancelled the offers. Well, that's not true. I cancelled because I never received the products, and all of the offers are trial offers. They all state that if you cancel within the trial period, you will not be charged. This isn't true, I had to contact several companies more than once to get them to remove the authorizations on my account, which they haven't. Anyway, prizebook is a total scam, don't fall for it, nothing is free.
