I am a French student and to pass to the next class, I had to do an internship and I chose to do it in the US to improve my English, see New-York because we see it from our youngest age through the music, the movies

I found one on the website monster (the company has still jobs on this website) for an entry level position for an internship or a job (my only explanations were on their website: www.pmg-affiliates.com/pmg.html ; each time I asked questions about the job they never answered.

I was so excited to go to NYC, I didn't take care of that. The name of her company is pro-motion international marketing inc, it's a branch of the group CYDCOR. It's located in Mineola (Long Island, 47, Mineola blvd) but they should move in a few times.

I applied and after a short phone interview I was hired for an internship from May the 1st to August the 4th. Actually, now I know that they are so happy when they find somebody motivated to work for them because they have so many deceptions. I just needed a VISA which cost around 1300$ including the insurance with the international sponsor CIEE.

Then the process to come was OK and I arrived on April the 28th, my boss (Jill McIlvain waited me at the airport) drove me to her house. It wasn't great but I cannot have too many expectations because I have not other places to live. In the house 5 people used to live there including my boss another manager of the company.. Before beginning the internship, I went to the social security center in order to get my social security card and I had a receipt of this request. She told me that I needed a social security card to be paid (she lied because the receipt is enough).

Then I begin to work for her, the main work was door to door sale in Business to business to sell office supplies for Quill (an office supplies company). I signed a contract which included I will be pay for 28% of what I will sell, so only commission.

It was very hard, we walked all the day long in the rain or the heat, and we have to pay (bus or train) to go to our territory. The only good thing is in this company there are only very young people like me who are the main time just graduated so without experience. In this office I saw people from many countries (Japan, France, China, Russia, Jamaca, Zimbabwe). It looked like paradise because everybody looked nice, young even my boss (I didn't realize that she lies all the time). After 2 months of routine (a business trip in North Carolina where I slept on the ground 3days long and many lies) for work I got my social security card and she told that she needed time to put me in their system

I was in 3weeks later: 1week before I had to leave. She gave me 360$ in cash the Monday and told she will give me the rest at the end of week. I didn't believe her too much but I cannot do anything because I wasn't sure if she lied or not. And of course the Friday when I had to leave she told me the morning that she will do everything the afternoon and she escaped and never came-back I tried to call her many times but she never answered.

Then the week-end I learnt that she does that all the time with a lot of people and currently I am in contact with 2 people who used to work for her: Ruby a Jamaican girl (my boss owes her 4000$ and another French guy who stayed 2weeks before leaving (she owes him 400$). It's, I guess one of the best ways to earn money without working too much and she knows that if she hires young people it will be easy to swindle them. The problem is there are too many managers who are bad so their only way to survive is to steal the money of their employees. Personnaly my past boss owes me 1500$.

I really want to stop their crap because there are so many people in the same case and it is really unfair.
Excuse me for my english which isn't so good.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

don't be fooled...

AUTHOR: Jay - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 20, 2006

Julien,

Just because they payed you what you were owed dosn't mean they are legitimate!

They are still the scum of the earth. You were the perfect candidate for the job. They prey on people like you.

They promise that all your dreams will come true if you do as they do, but it is just a big joke.

They are so sad and pathetic that they need to prey on other peoples misfortunes simply to pad their own pockets.

Don't let them off the hook that easily.

All you need to do is search all the names they operate under to see that you are not alone.

Go to your former boss' web site and search the ROR for each business name, or just search the names and you'll see them for who they really are.

Don't be fooled by them.

Steps to take

AUTHOR: Danielle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 18, 2006

Julian - I would like to help. Have you saved all of the receipts from what you should have been paid? If you have all of that, contact the state where you were working. They should be able to help you get your money back. I would encourage the others you mentioned to do so as well.

What it sounds like that owner is doing is preying on foreign workers and that is terrible. All you have to do is put Virginia or whatever state you were working in into a search engine and it will take you to the website of that state. Please don't give up on this!!!! The owner of that company could be put in JAIL for what she has done.
