Parking on the brakedown lane (right sholder)of hwy 183@Estrada in Irving,Tx.
As the vehicle was over heating,I walked to the Walmart for water or coolant.
Apon returning 30 to 45 min's, the vehicle was gone,
I then called the Irving police, they knew nothing about it being towed,no knowing the tag or VIN I was unable to report it stolen. That was on the 28th.On the 3ed I called the Irving police, and was told it had been towed by Pro Tow,and was located at Irving Pound WHW. It had been lost for 2 day's,Pro Tow told me, they had a contract with the city of Irving to tow any vehicle parked on the right of way of Hwy 183, whitch encludes the brakedown lane (Or sholder)
To make a long story short,It cost me 176.40 to get the vehicle back.

Leave a note in the windsheild saying you'd be right back, or leave your hood up so people would know you're broken down?

Take them to court

Don't know what kind of crap laws allow such towings to take place, if at all, when a car has been left temporarily due to a breakdown.

Not everyone can be expected to even have anything with them to post a placard in the window stating car broke down and owner will return shortly, nor does everyone have the option of leaving someone with a disabled vehicle, so this tow sounds utterly predatory and unreasonable.

Don't be one of the 99% they count on not to do anything further. Take the MFers to small claims court, and request the local DA look into what they did. It has to be an abuse of their towing franchise rights.

The only point against you might be if they expect you to first wait for a cop to show up to note the breakdown.
