DO NOT USE PROGRESSIVE VAN LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They quoted us a move of 3000.00 for Ca. to Tn. Arrived 3 days late with a truck to small. Told us the driver would get a weught certificate at a public scale, he did not. I actually spoke with the driver, he said the scale wouldn't give him the ticket. Here's my surprise, I ve been a truck driver for 10 years, the only way a scale house won't give you a ticket is if you don't pay the 8.00. He hung up on me. Then they said the weight doubled, thus our bill doubled. IF YOU DIDN'T GET A WEUGHT CERTIFICATE, HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT WEIGHS? Now they want 50% before they'll even start loading the truck. And storage fees start today. Beg borrow steal....heres your money.... send my stuff... Yes sir we got your check it's going on the van tomorrow. It will be there this day. It wasn't. It arrived 4 months late. PLUS, THE VAN ARRIVED AT OUR HOUSE THE DAY HURRICANE KATRINA HIT THE TENNEESSE AREA. So we unloaded our stuff in the hurricane. I talked shop with the driver, he said he was in my area 2 months before with another delivery. I asked the company if the used owner operators, or thier own trucks, they said thier own trucks. The driver that showed up was an owner operator. HERES A TIP FROM A TRUCK DRIVER, ASK IF THEY'LL USE OWNER OPERATORS, OR THIER OWN TRUCKS, IF THEY SAY THIER OWN TRUCKS, CHECK WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO SEE IF THEY ARE REGISTERED IN ALL THE STATES THEY GO THROUGH TO GET TO YOUR NEW HOME!! I won't even get into all they stuff they broke. Total with the ripp off, wait time ( we slept on the floor), broken items, we figure we're out around 12,000 out of a 3000.00 quote for a simple move. These guys suck. Never use them, and beware if they change thier name. Oh, wefiled a claim with thier insurance people, and they don't handel Progressive anymore. I wonder why. We filed a complaint with the better business, and they have not answered the complaint. These people are thieves in the worst way. They get your stuff, then turn the screws. Don't even call them. They are pros at getting people to belive them. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!

Sharon, I have been doing some research and filling out complaint forms with the OIG, Fed. Motor and Safety Carrier Assoc., etc. If you could keep me updated, I would appreciate it. I'm still ready to sue and would love to know the next steps in this whole mess. You are an angel....thanks again.

They're facing criminal trial, keep your money and time

Progressive Van Lines (sister company of AY Transport) is shut down and awaiting criminal charges at the federal level. If you did sue them, by the time you even got everythng arranged and into court, they'd be tried, convicted, and jailed. There's nothing for you to get from them, anyway. They've hidden their assets very well, and the moving company itself is almost certainly tapped out. Might as well just keep your money and time and wait for the good trial.
I'm a victim of them as well, but under AY Transport.

Anyone interested...I am rarin' to go. The BBB has closed the complaint and there is nothing further they can do for us. We are out about $9,000 (over the initial quote). Thanks Susan for the update and website we will try that. I understand they are under a national company Y and T (or something like that) and they just close up shop and start somewhere new under a different name. Please beware. Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

Progressive is shut down now

Paul,
Progressive Van Lines closed up shop soon after they completed your move. Earlier in the summer, they were dealing with an FBI raid on their HQ in San Jose and a Department of Transportation investigation of their owner and manager. Info in this case is still being solicited, so you may want to gether up your paperwork (whatever you might have) and go to this website to file your own story with the Department of Transportation's Office of the Inspector General.

I got scammed by them, too, and trust me, filling out that form makes you feel a tiny bit better.
