This company, Protect Painters Development, LLC  (and the various other names that it goes under) is a division of a larger holding company known as Service Brands International. They offer and sell franchises in the painting industry and other service oriented businesses.  The President is Wayne A. Scherger, who has contact addresses in MA; GA; and MI

Several individuals purchased these franchises not realizing the company was engaging in deceptive practices that constitute violations of Federal and State franchise and business opportunity laws.  At least one of them has retained counsel he is seeking full restitution and damages from them.  His investment and monetary losses are in excess of $300,000.

Other franchises have also fallen victim to such fraudulent practices under nearly identical circumstances.

If you are one of these victims please respond and perhaps we can be of assistance to one another.  These companies must be stopped and brought to justice.

beware of the slick sales team

telephone all owners and most especially shut down owners and find what they pay themselves (not what they hope and pray for) but what they have paid themselves.  Protect Painters and Mr Handyman owners are all good folks who got wowed by slick sales pitching struggling on the edge of losing their homes and the franchise sales people will steer you to a few owners (who actually are struggling too and some are being paid) for testimonial.  The best advice is to turn and run the other direction (fast) or you may lose everything.

I am very close to buying a Protect Painters franchise and would appreciate any further detail regarding the deceptive practices mentioned here.  What kind of deceptive practices?  What should I look out for?  Thanks you for any help you can give me.
