Absolutely Horrible Experience after New Management!

So here it is in a nutshell, three years ago I moved my home and office to a city approximately 45 minutes from my previous residence. Rather than rashly rent an office I chose to believe the dog and pony show a PS executive offices. Their concept is excellent, they rent a class a floor of the building or big office and rent out individual offices allowing you to have a great location with shared common space at a fraction of the price… Or so it would seem.

When you dive into it and read the fine print and realize it’s not at all what they are representing. For starters you are technically not allowed to have a printer in your office? Why would that be? Simple, they want you to pay them for the use of their office machines. That seems a little unreasonable considering that a 120 ft.² office can cost $400-$600 per month. That’s not a typo, they take a space that they rent for $19-$20 a foot and more than double it to the client. It’s a free economy, if you don’t like the price you don’t have to pay it… Just look for office space elsewhere. What got me were the promises from the previous manager that a virtual office made the most amount of sense. This seems like a sweet deal, $75 a month plus incidental postage (how much could that really be) and that’s it.

In reality they nickel and dime you to death. I have never received in invoice from this company that was less than $100 because they charge for line items like: supplies, miscellaneous change of address breach, transition fee, type and print, these fees added up to over $250 or roughly 3 times when I was promised I would be charged. When I went to move I sent them a very kind letter explaining that it was time for me to explore other options and that I would be vacating at the end of May 2016. This letter was sent to them on the fifth day of May so instead of using May as the 30 day notice they apparently charged me through June. This is just pettiness and totally unnecessary. My statement is rife with all kinds of frivolous charges none of which are legitimate. I never agreed to any of this nonsense and this so-called change of address breach that I allegedly agreed to was clearly hidden by the manager who took my original contract. Had I been told that when I move I would not be allowed to submit a change of address form to my new address, I would’ve done it. I’m not supposed to tell my clients in purveyors where my new address is?

I don’t care what I signed, their behavior and attitude is sophomoric and frankly predatory in my opinion. I’ve been in business for nearly 20 years and only needed the space temporarily for a landing spot until I could find a permanent location. I’m sure they have customers that are happy with their service, I am not. I’m not happy about the way I’ve treated by their staff and I’m specifically unhappy by the way I’m dismissed out of hand by their childish reception staff who is rude when I called to inquire about these outrageous charges. We are only talking about $251.86 however it’s the principle of it is what really galled me. I gave them 30 days notice in May yet they held me through June. They have my credit card on file so they have access to my assets without my consent. Think long and hard before signing an agreement with this company and I strongly suggest having an attorney review the document if you’re planning on doing business with them.

1. Clients are definitely allowed printers in their offices.  We do not allow high speed production copiers as that is part of the business service we provide.

This is not true; I was told from day 1 that "printers/copies" are a problem. The management at the time I signed up said with a smile and a wink “you can have a small printer, I won’t say anything.” It is their policy not to allow it, or at least that’s how it was presented to me. In essence I was told that they were doing me a favor if I wanted to bring in a lousy printer.

2. Client's offices are approximately 120 sf.  However, clients also have access to the common areas including the reception lobby, meeting rooms, kitchenette, and hallways.  Including these spaces is a more comparable comparison between "raw" space at $19 - $20 per sf and an executive suite offering.

Again, simply untrue. Even if an office is 120 ft.² at $20 per foot that comes out to only $200 per month. I have never been offered a space for that little. The bare minimum was approximately $600 per month, perhaps I was looking at the super deluxe package. The fact that you are allowed to use their hallways and a small kitchenette by no means justifies the ludicrous rates that they charge in my opinion.

3. Services such as supplies, secretarial services, printing, etc. are indeed billed.  These are also part of the business services we provice.  All services are indeed charged a la carte, so clients don't have to pay for "included" items they might never use.  A price list stating the a la carte items as well as their prices are included with the contract up front.

I never wanted any of their so-called “services”, but if you want your mail forwarded to you they consider that secretarial service in charge a princely sum for it. In their defense, they did offer to allow me to provide them with my own envelopes to avoid paying the outrageously inflated rates that they charge.

4. Signing our contract indicates a client agrees to the clauses of the contract.  The entire contract is presented up front.  Attorneys are welcome to review the contract in advance.

Says the used-car salesman in the polyester suit. (It’s all in the fine print) The person who wrote the original rebuttal was not even an employee of this company at the time in which I became a client. She has absolutely no firsthand knowledge of any of the dealings that I had therefore everything she saying is merely opinion and/or hearsay. I was there, I got charged, my statements are firsthand. They went to Great lengths to walk me around their space highlighting all of the benefits and advantages of doing business with them. Believe me, anything in that contract was up to me to find before I signed it.

5. Our Clients can certainly give out their new address to their clients, but it must be done via their own means.  Putting in a forwarding order with the post office will cause the post office to forward all mail for all clients of the center, so forwarding orders with the post office are not permitted.  This is stated up front as part of the contract.

Well, the local postmaster has different opinion on this, maybe he should go to work for PS executive offices and get an education on the USPS. All joking aside, that’s an outrageous statement… Think about it… People move offices every day, if you can’t forward the name of the business then how do people move? There’s still some and occupying the office it’s just a different company. This is a completely nonsense statement and they charged me a penalty for forwarding my mail. This is their policy not the post office.

6. Credit card payments are not required.  Clients are informed of the amount to be charged and give approval before their card is charged.

Also a half-truth, you don’t have to give them your credit card but if you do it will charge you whatever they feel you owe them. Statements are vague at best and simply state things like “secretarial service”. There’s a reason why attorneys are required to give detailed billing statements to their clients. It’s only reasonable that you know what they actually did to justify charging you. Like I said in my original post, you might love it here… I hated it.
