Publishers Clearing House Yet another telephone "you have won" scam. Port Washington New York

On December 9th, 2015, I was telephoned by a man who gave his name as David Washington, prize director for Publishers Clearing House.  I was told that I had won $850K and a new Mercedes with a winning ticket from a drawing.  We talked for a bit, and I was passed on to some "supervisor" who talked more and wanted to know if I would be home at 2:30 pm to receive the prizes.  After being asked about my marital status, he suddenly cut off the phone conversation.  I hung around at home until after 3:00 pm, but just as I suspected, no one showed up.  It was all an apparent scam of some kind.  I wondered if it was some new kind of house robbing scam where they ask if you are going to be home.  If not, they rob your house.   Does Publishers Clearing House really award any of their so-called prizes?  Are those awards based upon marital status?  I don't know, but that answer might be interesting and viewable as discrimination.
