Pyrex Corelle Brands Pyrex lids stink - literally Internet

I have a set of 4 Pyrex glass bowls with snap-on plastic lids. Recently the lids have taken on a very unpleasant smell and the largest one no longer stays on the bowl. After trying various suggestions to remove the smell I called the company. She said the warrenty is only good for 2 years and that I would have to pay to replace the lids. I asked the price of the one I use most and was told $5.99. It seemed like a lot but I was considering it - until she added another $5.99 for shipping.

Producing a defective product and then oversharging to replace the bad parts is surely the prime example of RIP-OFF. These bowls were used for either mixing, marinating, or storing left overs. They were not abused in any way. I have plastic bowls/lids purchased at the Dollar Store that have lasted a lot longer than 2 years without getting the terrible smell that the over-priced Pyrex developed.
