When I met the salesman at this dealership, he seemed to be really honest and straight forward, and I let my guard down and bought a used 2002 Mustang GT without having the good sense to let an independant mechanic check it out. I was told that they had a mechanic go over it and fix some minor things to get it road ready. I did however have them run a CarFax on it, but it did not show the mechanical problems that were lurking underneath the hood. Now I did buy this car as-is with no warranty, and I do know fully well what this means but the problems I had out of this car in the time frame they happened are ridiculous .Two days after I bought it, the transmission made a terrible noise, and the check engine light came on and stayed on.

The dealership did take care of this inexpensive adjustment for me, (they said a seal was rubbing inside the tranny?) and they did not have to do this, I admit. Well about a week later I filled up the gas tank for the first time past a half a tank, and to my horror gasoline poured out from under the car all over the place ! It gushed out gallons at first, and then steadily dripped out until it got below the level of the leak for several hours. Now this was just plain dangerous, and I can't imagine that the dealership did not know about this problem before they dumped it on me. I thought it was unusual that when I took delivery of the car it had less than a 1/4 of a tank, but I figured they were just being cheap. The day after this happened the alternator went out and the car stalled, I mean what are the odds that this is all coincidence ?

However the dealership did take the car in one more time and fixed the gas leak, again an inexpensive fix at the neck filler. However they ignored the alternator problem and when my friend picked up the vehicle for me, it left him stranded in the middle of the highway. Of course when it came to this expensive repair they turned their back on me. All of this occured in about three weeks.

I saved up for fifteen years (part of a retirement fund from a previous job) so I could have a vehicle like this, and not be in debt for it, and I paid ten thousand dollars cash for it, as you can imagine my heart is broken. I know this is all my fault, and the dealership did make half hearted attempts to patch the car when they didn't have to, but my point is that I believe that they knew full well the lousy quality of this car before they sold it to me, and I just want to warn other potential customer's that might go to Quality Auto Sales in Columbia Tn. to please have an independant mechanic go over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb and not just take the dealer's word at face value, and end up like me getting fleeced for your life saving's or find yourself in debt for five years over a ridiculously unreliable or unsafe vehicle from this dealership. I did ask for the dealership to buy this mess back, so I could be out from under it, but of course they became indignant at this suggestion, and I knew it was unrealistic even before I asked, but I would rather they bought it back, so I did not have to face the choice of keeping a pile of junk or taking adavantage of someone else by dumping it on them. After knowing how it made me feel, I don't think I could do that to someone else on purpose.
I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
