Quality Subscriptions Inc QSI Donation Scam. Young man soliciting donations to sell books for to Children's Hospital. Raising funds for his baseball trip to Hawaii. Buford, Georgia

A young man came to my door calling himself, Joseph Bias. He said he was Dr. Bias' son, who lived on a street in my subdivision. Claimed to be selling books for sick kids and Childrens Hospital in Orange, California in order to raise money for a Baseball Tournament trip to Hawaii. He said his father wanted him to earn the money by doing odd jobs, like yardwork. "Joseph" claimed that most of my neighbors were sponsoring 2 kids at $106 each. I had a feeling he was lying; even asked him if he was telling the truth. I felt uneasy, but gave him a check for $106. He left and asked me to remember his name because he was going to be a famous baseball player. He claimed to be 19, but looked older. A few minutes later my neighbor called me to tell me the young man came to her door and showed her my check, through her window, to prove that he was legitimate because I had made a donation. After that call, I felt uneasy and checked out the company, only to find several entries of similar scams about this company. I immediately stopped my check and am sending in a cancelation for the books today via UPS, so that I have signed proof o cancelation. If you don't cancel the "contract" you may still be liable. I will NEVER open my door to any solicitor. Next time I will ask them to wait and call the police.
