Beware of the popular online penny auction site, Quibids. My husband started "bidding" on there last week and thought that if his bid was under .50 cents he got the item for free. Free, is a joke. He didn't realize that every bid he made cost him .60 cents just to click the bid button.  It must be true what they say about "nothing in life is free."

When I went to balance our checking account today I found a total of $387.90 in charges from Quibids! That is in less than one weeks time. I am outraged. My husband is not the type to waste money like this, and he is furious. This is the first time he has ever used an online so called "penny" auction site and will be the last! There were charges on our account for $60.00 a total of 4 times! What is that about? He supposedly got "free bids" for his birthday. Then there were several charges ranging from .53 cents to $30.00.

This company obviously makes huge amounts of money by betting on the fact that consumers do not know what they are doing on this site. I can not believe they have an A- rating with the BBB even though they have  1145 complaints against them. If you read these complaints it is very easy to see that people do not understand how Quibids work. Quibids knows this and is making a profit off of people's ignorance. Quibids also gives the same "pat" answer to almost all of the complaints made against them. Shame on Quibids!

Help get the word out to people to not get caught up with Quibids. I for one am definitely going to tell everyone I know.

QuiBids Response: QuiBids 101

AUTHOR: QuiBids Support Rep - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 15, 2014

I am sorry to hear that this has been your impression of QuiBids. Let me provide some insight that will help you understand the value in using QuiBids. Each bid costs just $0.60. These bids are pre-paid and placed in your Bids Account. Each time you place a bid, your Bids Account is deducted one bid. Once a bid is placed the auction price will go up in one cent increments. A maximum of 20 seconds is also added to the timer every time someone bids. This gives enough time for someone else to make the decision to bid if they're interested. This is similar to the “Going once...Going twice...SOLD!” approach of traditional auctions.

If you are the top bidder when the timer reaches zero, you win! You will then pay the ending auction price as well as the cost of shipping. If you do not win, you lose your bids that have been placed; however, we offer a "Buy Now" feature on all auctions. When you use our “Buy Now” feature, we subtract the cash value of the bids you’ve placed (excluding voucher bids) from the value price of the item, and you only have to pay the difference.

Let's say you spend 30 bids trying to win a $30 valued product, but you don't win. Your 30 bids are worth $18 (30 x $0.60), so if you choose to use the "Buy Now', you would pay $12 plus shipping for the product. *Please note that this offer applies to real bids only, and that voucher bids to do not apply to the ‘Buy Now’ option. This feature limits the risk in participating in our auctions, as we offer the "Buy Now" feature on all of our auctions!

If you purchased bids and did not wish to, we have 100% guarantee refund of any unused purchased bids. Please contact our support team via email at support@quibids.com and we can work with you to issue a refund of your unused bids.

How QuiBids Works

We at QuiBids are extremely sorry that you had a bad experience on the website. I would like to take the time to briefly explain how QuiBids works for future reference.

This is similar to the Going once...Going twice...SOLD! approach of traditional auctions.

If you are the top bidder when the timer reaches zero, you win!  You will then pay the ending auction price as well as the cost of shipping.  If you do not win, you lose your bids that have been placed; however, we offer a "Buy Now" feature on all auctions. When you use our Buy Now feature, we subtract the cash value of the bids youve placed (excluding voucher bids) from the value price of the item, and you only have to pay the difference.

Let's say you spend 30 bids trying to win a $30 valued product, but you don't win. This feature limits the risk in participating in our auctions, as we offer the "Buy Now" feature on all of our auctions!

All that being said, it states very clearly on the website that you are purchasing bids in advance, and that you can then use those bids in the auctions to try and win items.

If you have any other questions about how the website works, or would like to contact us, you can do so by email at support@quibids.com.

Sincerely,

QuiBids Team
