BE FOREWARNED: If you want to try Quick Start Store, the contract says that if you cancel early you must pay 75% of the total contract cost, which is thousands of dollars. They will help you set up the account, but will not help you cancel it. There are numerous errors in the website and contract and no increase in customer inquiries...
Quick Start Store is an online marketing company I had never heard of until they called me Oct. 23, 2012 to solicit my business. QSS was offering to create a website for me and do behind-the-scenes SEO management with possibility of making money off of site clicks. Kyle the sales agent offered a free 30-day trial for an expensive service ($495 initial set-up, $295 per month for a 1-year contract or $195 with a 2-year contract). I agreed, hoping it would bring me some customers and help pay for itself.
After 2 weeks, on Nov. 15, I was not satisfied with the service for the following reasons: my online ranking was not improved, I had received no customer calls, the website looks ugly, and they had posted false information on the website that I never told them, including links to obscene Youtube videos following the video they created for me. Plus there were typos I had to correct on the contract and website. I called Kyle to cancel and he tried to keep me, offering me a better deal, but I said no. He said I had to then fax my request to QSS. My fax machine was broken and I sent an email Nov. 23 to my sales agent asking if I could scan and email. I never heard back from him. Then Friday Nov. 30, I received an email from Michael in development, acknowledging my desire to cancel but since they hadn't received my fax, they were charging my account the $495. In the email he said that he had called (but never left a message and my phone didn't register a missed call). I was working all day and didn't get the email until late that night, when I scanned my request.
Monday Dec. 3, Diana the director (of collections?) called and said they couldn't remove the $495 pending with my bank, and that it was actually a better deal because the terms of my contract said I had to pay 75% of the year-long fee of $4035, which equals $3026. I said no, I had canceled it and would not pay any of it. I found a way to fax online and sent it on the 3rd, which Diana acknowledged. She reasserted that she could not remove the pending $495 and tried to work a deal in which I could remain with QSS for as long as my business was running. I said no thanks, cancel the account. By Dec. 6, the pending charges disappeared from my account, and I asked them to acknowledge in writing that they were closing my account and would not charge me in the future. Soon after, the card they had on file for me was canceled due to online fraud (blessing in disguise?). Now Dec. 22, I've received an invoice for the $295 monthly fee for a service I had canceled and failed payment. Doing business with Quick Start Store is laborious, poor quality, ineffective and simply not worth it.
