I am a licensed insurance agent with a reputable company. I am somewhat new in the business so I decided to use a lead generation service. I did a little looking around online at the various companies I could choose from. I came across this company on my parent company's pre-approved lead service list.

What attracted me to insuranceleads.com was the supposed fact that I could pay as I could go for leads, rather than giving a block of money at once. They advertised that I would get 20 free leads to try their service out. Never explained that you would have to buy at least $200 worth of leads with 90 days. As well, they never explained that the 20 free leads would be from the entire state of Florida, and that at least 4 to 5 other agents would be calling that same person. The rep explained this to me after I got in to their horrible system. Not to mention, half of the people never requested the information, as well as some of them leads were plain bogus!

It was annoying because when I first tried to sign up, their system was freezing. I should have taken that as a sign from God. I should have walked away when it said that you could do an electronic signature. I was told that the electronic agreement would be instant while the paper and fax agreement would delay the process. Naturally, me being stupid agreed and filled the electronic form.

After about $100 of leads, most being bogus and people already getting multiple phone calls from other reps, I decided to cancel my account. They make it real easy, you simply click on a link to cancel your account. I started to feel better, until I got an email that they would be charging my credit card another $120. I called the rep and he asked me to wait for a about 2 minutes, he came back on and explained that I signed an agreement to use at least $200 worth of their horrible leads. I explained that I never saw that anywhere or else I would not have committed to that plan. He said it was in the contract. I asked for a copy of the contract, well knowing that they could very well just stamp my ridiculous electronic signature on whatever contract they felt like.

The rep put me hold twice for about 3 minutes each and said I would be emailed a copy of the contract. I have not received the contract and I am not able to get a hold of anyone.

Anyone else have a similar story or suggestion?
