Desert Horizon Remodeling, R-TEK Services, LLC ROC 206729 - National Home Remodelers, Inc.ROC 106993 False Statements, Violation of State Standards and Laws, Suspended and Revoked Licenses Phoenix Arizona

We signed a contract with Doug Desjardins and Desert Horizon Remodeling in September of 2005 to build a new room and replace all the windows. Desert Horizon Remodeling did a below standard install on the windows and replaced the sliding glass door with one that isn't wheelchair accessible as required. Desert Horizon Remodeling assured us that they would fix the problems, but stopped responding to calls in December 2005.

In February 2006 we contacted Rod their former employee and he told us Desert Horizon Remodeling's new location and phone number. When we contacted Desert Horizon Remodeling we were informed by Brandy Desjardins that they had merged with R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) and National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993) They sent over a contract in May of 2006 from National Home Remodelers, Inc that took full responsibility for the prior contract.

In August of 2006 R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) / National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993) started construction. The concrete pad they poured had multiple ROC violations. When we complained, Doug Desjardins and Joe Zaso came out and refused to fix the problems and said they would fix it later. R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) / National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993) crew continued to build and did damage to the structure of the existing home. They also left our home open to rain inside our existing house. Doug Desjardins and Joe Zaso both came out and said the structure was fine.

In September 2006 R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) / National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993) failed an inspection and they were told to consult a structural engineer by the inspector. Doug Desjardins said he would get it fixed. They started work without consulting a structural engineer in October 2006 they failed another inspection in November. We contacted the Better Business Bureau and were told that R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) / National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993) were no longer registered with them. We filed a complaint with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors February 2007 and sent the complaints to Stan Elder the owner of the companies.

In March 2007 Fred Richie came out to the house to discuss a resolution. But instead told us not to follow through with the ROC and if we did we would get nothing. He said that we would be lucky to get anything and while he wouldn't be happy with what they had built if it was his house. He told us we didn't have a leg to stand on and he was going back to tell his boss(Stan Elder) to do nothing at all. June 2007 R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) / National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993) was issued a corrective work order from the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.

In June 2007 we contacted Fred Richie at R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) / National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993) and he said they couldn't complete the work in time. So we signed a contract with R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) saying that they had done damage, would fix the damage, and would be liable for the previous contracts. They preceded to tear down and start construction without the report from a structural engineer. The new concrete pad is not compliant with ROC standards or the corrective work order. They finally sent a structural engineer in August 2007 and he wrote a report saying they needed plans signed by an engineer to fix the damage. They ignored his report and continued to build despite our objections. They failed another inspection in October 2007 and the inspector said they needed plans signed by an engineer.

We filed with the ROC to reopen the complaint and send it to the legal department. So Fred Richie designed plans without our knowledge or approval, without the structural engineer, and submitted them under a different permit.(Trying to subvert the county inspector failed slip and the structural engineer's report.) They came back out in December 2007 with these plans that we had never agreed to or seen. We told them on camera that we never agreed to them. They proceeded to work on them anyway and did further damage to the structure of the existing home.

We have since went to a hearing and got a ruling against R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) / National Home Remodelers, Inc.(ROC 106993). They are currently in violation of the ruling and suspended. R-TEK Services, LLC(ROC 206729) has since been revoked on 2 separate other cases.

They have done us so much harm over the last 3 years. We have had to live in a house that is structurally unsound. Every time it rains it comes in and floods our house. We have mold damage since 2006 and now my son has cancer.

Please be very careful when dealing with any of the following: Stan Elder, Fred Richie, Doug Desjardins. Stan Elder has been in trouble with the state before for fraudulent construction scheme's.(Maricopa County Record 92-401751) They made false statements to the ROC, the Judge, and the Maricopa County Inspector. So make sure you have everything on video if you can and take as many pictures as possible.(We have around 900) They will continue trying to get you to kick them off the property so they can get out of trouble with the ROC.(Denial of Access) They will claim this is the case to the ROC even if you don't. So be careful, the law is weighted for the contractors and the ROC will give them unlimited time.(Even though they know the harm it is causing you.)
