I purchased a cell phone at Radio Shack in Dec 2000 along with their 3 year service plan. When my phone broke after 20 months of use I took it to be repaired. I was told it would take 2 weeks to fix. I use my cell phone as my home phone so didn't really want to give it up for that long but the manager told me it would be two weeks at the most, he had just gotten some back that had only taken 8 days. Fine. I left it.

After 2 weeks I called to see where my phone was. The service ctr hadn't started on it yet! After a couple more days they said it was listed in "Waiting to be shipped" status. FIVE days later it was STILL "Waiting to be shipped". I called the service center in Tennessee to find out the hold up, I told CAROLINE at the service center that I wanted it shipped overnight. "We don't do that". I told her "This is crap" (my exact words) and she hung up on me. The manager of the store called and was told it was shipping out that very day. Five MORE days and it wasn't there. They checked the computer at the store and it said, you guessed it, "Waiting to be shipped". I was on the verge of a major break down reminiscent of the movie Falling Down at this point. The manager told me that she too had been hung up on several times by the svc ctr when she had called to check on my phone. Again, they told me it would be shipped that day and it was. It took exactly FOUR WEEKS to get my phone back after it sat for TEN DAYS "Waiting to be shipped"! During this time I was given excuses like, "It's busy after Christmas", "We had an employee death and we don't know where anything is", "The weather has been bad", "We've had a lot of employees on vacation", and then they just began recycling these. ALL of these excuse came AFTER the two weeks it was supposed to take to get my phone!

Had I known that the service department was filled with such uncaring SOB's I never would have bought their stupid service plan. I would have bought a new phone and been done with it! I will NEVER buy another service plan there and really doubt I will ever shop at that store again. Thank you for reading my rambling.

Radio Shack might have been at fault for your mis-hap with the service repair center. But, keep in mind that not all Shack's are like that. Some Shack's keep up to speed with a customers repair and handle any situation that might be delt out to them. Not only am I an employee at "The Shack " but I have also been a repair customer with Radio Shack and I know how you feel. All I can say is I am sorry for your mis-hap with that one certain Radio Shack. Just remember, your Shack in KOKOMO has some great people working for them.
