I went into radio shack and purchased 3 galaxy 3 phones for my family.  They told me about there radio shack protection plan.  It sounded good.  All I had to do if something happened to the phone was to bring it back to the store and they would send it out to get repaired or replaced.  I would only have to pay my monthly charge.  Well guess what.. I have a problem with one of the phones.  I called radio shack where I purchased all of them and told them the problem with the phone.  They informed me I had to call an 800 number.  I called the 800 number and they told me that I had to give them $125.00 deposit before they would send me a box to send it back to them.  This is not what I was told when I purchased the phone.  I called radio shack today.  same store and spoke to hanna. I decided to act like a new customer and ask questions.  She NEVER mentioned anything about a $125.00 deposit and she told me all I had to do was bring it back to them and they would send it out.  WHAT A SCAM!!!!  Do not bother purchasing the Radio Shack protection plan for your phone from them.  save your money!!

Do you??

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

Do you understand that all the terms and conditions cannot be divulged all at once?? Do you understand that you MAY HAVE TO READ??? It doesnt matter WHAT you were told, what matters is the terms and conditions in that little booklet they gave you when you picked up your phone. No one on this site can take your post seriously because you cannot with 100% certainty say that the information wasnt told to you. As I shop at RadioShack quite a bit, I know for a fact that this book is handed to every customer who purchases their warrenty. In that book it pretty much states that there is a in store replacment for any item under around $300. Anything beyond that is going to require a deposit of some form in order to process the return.

The reason there is a deposit or deductable is that YOU could be pulling a scam on RadioShack. As those phones a REALLy expensive, roughly 600-800 dollars PER unit, they do this to ensure that THEY wont get screwed by YOU. I mean really when you think of the costs of a cell phone, $125 to replace a $600-$800 device IS CHEAP. Just because YOU paid $50 for each doesnt mean that ACTUAL value has changed, it just means that whichever carrier you went through is SUBSIDIZING your purchase of the cellphone. I have replaced 3 phones with RadioShack, one of them I had to drop $125 on to get it replaced. While they were processing my phone I wandered over to the cellphone table and took a look at the new phones. I was actually STUNNED when I saw the real retail price of those phones. I counted myself LUCKY that I had the warrenty and I only had to pay $125.

Heres a thought, go ahead and just PAY the $600-$800 for a new phone. NEVER get the warrenty. ALWAYS screw yourself because you cant take the time to read the information given to you. This way there is no added surprises and you can count on paying ANOTHER $600-$800 per phone that you break. I mean WHY would you only want to pay $125 instead of MUCH MUCH more?

You and I BOTH know why you are making this post and its not because of what that poor minimum wage employee told you. No you are making this post because YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD GET A FREE PHONE!! Unfortunatly RadioShack is not the warrenty holder. Thats through a third party company. THEY are the ones who make the rules and can change the rules at ANY TIME with ZERO notice to either RadioShack or to RadioShacks customers. No, your issue is that YOU DID NOT read the booklet and THAT YOU MADE ASSUMPTIONS!!!!!! Thats all. Get over it and move on.

There is NO RIPOFF HERE!!!!! Just the usual consumer self entitlment. It is clearly obvious that this poster DID NOT read the information given to them. THEY have made assumptions on the little bit of information they could remember being told.
