This report is similar to the complain in Report: #4352*** on this site. There appear to be a systematic failure to make good on rebate offers for products sold under the Raidmax trade name.

Details:

Item: Raidmax RX-380K bought on 17 May 2010.

Offer: Rebate for $9, good until 30 June 2010;

Claim: Rebate forms with all backup and UPC code mailed on 17 May 2010 to F.C.S., Rebate Department: RX-380K(05/17/10), 30928 San Clemente St., Hayward, CA 94544. Sent claim documents were scanned and are available for printed and electronic reproduction. No rebate received as of 2 Sept 2010. Filed complain with Fry's at the Campbell Store. Retained copy of Fry's documentation of incident. F.C.S. claimed to Fry's that they had not received original USPS-mailed rebate claim papers from me. Fry's faxed them all my backup data on 1 Sept 2010. Fry's claim is not their fault. F.C.S claims is not their fault. Both Fry's and F.C.S have been reluctant to expedite process and they both say that it will take another 6-to-8 weeks. Fry's is aware of this issue but it is not doing anything for its customers other than to re-file claim with F.C.S.. At times Fry's act like an independent third party and at times it acts as an agent for F.C.S. by strongly backing F.C.S. further stalling in making payment. Hard to tell what is the dividing line between both companies in this regard.

Comment: by simply doing an INTERNET search it is possible to find similar complains where the key word Raidmax and Fry's are linked together. There is even one reference to this issue in YouTube. It is not clear what is the ongoing relation between Fry's and Raidmax and whether similar rebate schemes (scams?) are still being marketed by Fry's. It appears Fry's has been reluctant to escalate their involvement on behaves of multiple customers with similar complains. This appears to be an intentional attempt to evade rebate payment.

Action call: I would like agencies at Federal, State and local level to start policing the rebate offer business rather than have the consumer take the brunt for dealing with denial or delay of payment. Some serious criminal law enforcement in this arena is needed nation wide.
