I recieved a call from rhe rainsoft company in August of 2007 and let them come out and test my water and of course their report was a bad one on City water. So, the salesman explained the overall plan to us and made the system sound wonderful and we agreed to give it a try.
We asked the salesman would the company remove the system if it did not do what he said that it would do even though you only have a 3 day cancellation policy and he replied that we first would have to let them try to please us, and then if we were unsattisfied that they would remove it and we would not be obligated.
The system was put in after the 3 day period that was dated on my papers and I have proof of this. The system was very drying to our hair and I could not get my clothes dry in the dryer without drying them at least 3 or more attemps. I reported this to the salesman the first week when he came by to check on the system. He replied that he had not heard of these problems and that he would send someone out to check the system. But the reason the salesman did not know any of the problems was because he had only been with the rainsoft for 2 months when he sold us ours and the told me that he had been with the company for 2 years.
I have dates in writing that the company came out several times for 2 months checking this and that and telling me this and that, but nothing that changed anything except they did find out my dryer problem, which was thier fault, they had buried my dryer vent under my house when they installed the system.
The last service man came several times and said that the system was not working properly and they wanted to replace the system with a new one and we told him that we did not want a knew one . We just wanted him to remove the existing and resolve this with the finance company and that they could take the new one and sell it to someone else. Mr Chris Sims the owner said they could not do that because it was passed the 3 day period and that they could not resale a used system to another customer.
I have even talked to a friend of mine who I found out after the puchase was made, worked for this company and even she said that 3 days was not enough to try out this system and then she was told to keep her mouth shut and stay out of this or she could loose her job.
I have have talked to the salesman since the discussion of removing the system and he told me that he was no longer with this company because the owner was all about money. He did tell me that he would help me and give me a notorized statement or anything I needed him to do. But since then he would not answer or return my phone calls.
I happen to live in the same area as the salesman and I have seen him a couple of times in the grocery store and my daughter was with me when he told me that some one in the Rainsoft company had told him that he could get sued and that he needed to keep quite. He also told me that he almost lost his house over that job and that his wife was very upset with him and that he could not help me unless I suepeoned him in court.
I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau in Birmingham and Mr Chris Sims reply was that there was nothing wrong with my system and that I stated that the system might be defective, so they offered to replace it to satisfy me and give me peace of mind. Yet he had already stated that he could not resale my barely used system to another customer, but he can get a knew system to replace mine which is still good or maybe he was gonna make me think that he was giving me a knew one, I don't know anymore because there have been to many lies.
I have had the whole system cut off since 11-01-07. I used it for 2 months only because they were servicing the system and I had to go outside my house and get water to wash my hair in. I made 2 payments during these 2 months and I have written letters to the finance company that finances for rainsoft (ha!) and also to the main Rainsoft company in Illinois and no one seems to want to help me.
The salesman made his commission and the finance company paid Mr. Simms and so now the finance company has put this against my credit as a charge off and I had really good credit before this. I have filed for an investigation with Equifax against this situation and I am waiting for their answer and I am going to give an explanation on my credit report. The system cost about 7000.00 dollars and the have charged me interest for the months I did not pay the payments and they ran the bill up to over 8000.00 dollars.

I have NEVER heard of those problems with our water treatment systems. You probably have a defective unit. You made a promise to buy the unit. You signed your name. It is not their responsibility to replace the unit if it is not broken. No employee would be told that they would loose their job, and if they were, you are a horrible friend for pushing her that hard. It wasn't her battle.

Rain Soft Birmingham still tries to twist my words

I have always paid my way in life as I previously stated about my credit score, but I will not pay for something that I have been lied to about from the very beginning and that I cannot use.
First of all as I stated the system was put in after my 3 days and I never got to try it and the salesman who was hired to represent your company lied to me about the 3 days and other things and now he has his money and so do you and I have a Piece of junk that is totally overated by the repesentatives who are out here trying to sell this system.
Replacing the system would do me no good since Chris says that it is not broken, that he was just trying to satisfy me and I would still have the same problem as before with washing my hair in this system. If you people are so confident in your system, then you can come and get the whole system {that has only been used for 2 months } and sale it to someone else, but nobody wants to do this, they just want to argue.
I also think if he was going to get another system from the warehouse, then what was he going to do with my old system? The salesman should have been fired, but none the less he still recieved his money and so did Chris Sims and by the way I am aware of how the finance system works but right is right and wrong is wrong and I want others to know this up front about this company and the owner and I will continue to battle this as long as it goes on.

First of all Rainsoft gives you 3 days from the day you sign the papers, They give you the cancellation policy. It is in writing. After the 3 days Rainsoft offered to replace your system for free. Sounds like you are looking for a way out. The salesman was also fired, but Chris stood behind you and backed the warrenty. Now if your system is broken how are they going to resell it, and why don't you let them fix it? When you finance this you pay the bank not Rainsoft. When you stop paying bills the interest and fees add up. DUH!!!

American Finco Financial Services respond to my investigation to charges on my credit record

After leaving my Ripoff report I checked my emails and I had a notice that there was an alert for change in my score on my credit report. I checked it right away and the Finance company had lowered my score 2 more points on the same day that I filed my investigation and they took it out of charge off status and placed it in collections.
This is the same company that told me to put every thing in writing and fax it to them and they would send this before the review board and give me an answer. There answer was I still owed the bill and when I told them that the system had been put in after the 3 day cancellation period (and I have proof) they responded by saying , I doubt that.
This lead me to believe that this company is as crooked as the Rainsoft company and that they are also only interested in the money and not the facts.
