This company sent me a letter claiming that I was one of the winners of North American Utilities draw held in April. They stated that participants were selected through a computer ballot system drawn from telephone numbers and utilities (they mispelled by the way) bills. I only hope this won't cause me any problems in the future with my phone number or email address. Though I never entered any sort of contest of this type in April or any other month.

They also submitted a real looking check for $2,980.00 dollars which would cover the charges/fees required to be paid prior to recieving your winning. No one I've ever heard of winning lotteries ever had to pay to receive prize money. The check did not come with a stub of any kind either. Any check I've ever received even for $20.00 came with a pay stub.

They end the letter asking you to keep your winnings confidential. Who can keep something like that confidential and why would you? So I for one am not going to fall for this scam and hope that no one else does.
