I own a timeshare in Park City, Utah and was enticed to purchase a vacation package from Raintree Discovery. It was a cost of about $1400.00 that included a 7 night 5 star vacation at one of their resorts and then additional weeks through RCI. The deal is that the consumer must use the intial week within 18 months of purchase. I made my payments, also called to see if I was actually to use the vacation package or just needed to make my reservation by the 18 month period and was told specifically, that I just needed to make the reservation. It was a concern I had as time was growing near. I finally got around to calling in my reservation and it took more than 4 hours to speak with someone who could access my account and then was again transfered to Sharon. She then preceeds to tell me that must use the vaction, not just reserve it or Lose my entire investment. I could pay them an additional fee of $100.00 per month for up to 3 months to extend it out however. What a RIP OFF. The customer service is lousy. SHaron told me she would speak to a suoervisor who was of course oput of town for the week and was told by Sharon she would call me 1st thing the next week. She did not and I had to call her. Now I have less than a month to try to use this package or pay more money making this NO DEAL at all. The sales people are nice but the behind the scenes people are inept, uninformed, produce wrong information, pushy when it came to billing even threatening me about losing what I had put in if I didnt pay. I highly reccomend that nobody purchase a vacation with this organization. Even better yet is that one of the destinations I wanted to use, Whistler, was discontinued as well as another resort of interest. So now I have this package I either pay more for, go to a place in a hurry and unprepared and not be able to go where I had wanted to in the beginning. DO NOT USE THIS COMAPNY AS THEY CHANGE THE RULES FOR THEMSELVES AND DESTINATIONS....RIP OFF.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

Raintree Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: BetzabethT - ()

I am one of the many Raintree timeshare owners who have seen maintenance fees nearly double since purchase.  We then have the unpleasant surprise of an unexpected 'special assessment fee'.  It did not make me feel special, nor did I feel like it could possibly be legal.  I would love to get out of this time share & recoup some of my investment.  For the yearly maintenance fee that I pay, I could easily book a similar vacation when I want, where I want.
