I wish I had my wits about me enough to google his email address along with the website for the IED awards he had me go to, but this guy approached me at like 7:00 this morning and I hadn't had any caffeine. I also truly wanted to believe this guy's story. Glad I found this website to see this guy is not only full of rubbish but also has been playing this con for years!

Same story- ran up to me in a huff, totally sweaty and carrying bags of women's clothing and accessories. Said he was from LA and tried to take a livery cab into Manhattan - downtown like Hudson street area- but they drove off with a trunk full of powdered wigs and other things he needed for the shoot. 
Said he didn't even have his wallet or phone and needed money to get another car into the city with everything he was carrying. Something about having about half of what he needed to pay for the cab & needed help paying for the rest but since he didn't have his phone he couldn't accept venmo or paypal.

He was sweaty and flustered, and spoke with a non-NY accent, which made it all the more believable that he was telling the truth. He seemed to be very uncomfortable and nervous, and to be honest, it didn't make any sense that someone like him would be in my neighborhood that early in the morning with all that random crap if his story wasn't true. 

He was a black man, approximately 5'6" - medium build - was wearing all black and had an almost shaved head. Had a minor speech impediment.

If you are approached by him do NOT give him your time, let alone your money. I had a feeling he was full of it, but I unfortunately wanted to believe him as I would hope someone would help me if I were ever in a bind. Oh well.
