Randy Sutherland Contracted to build a 60'x80' steel building NUCLA Colorado

I contracted with Chris White in the fall of 2007 to build me a 60'x80' steel shop building on property that I own outside of Nucla CO in Montrose County. I thought when I hired him he had had his own crew that built the steel buildings. I found out later that he contracts the foundation, the erection of the red iron and completion of the building to the cheapest contractors that he can find. I done all the excavation and dirt work with my equipment. He hired a contractor to do the concrete slab forming and the pour of the redi- mix from the Grand Junction area.

This contractor did not check the elevation of the forms before he poured the slab and I have one corner 1 1/2 inches low. I called Chris White and told him I paid for a level slab and that is what I expected. Chris White tried to get me to sign off on the slab for 1K to 2K and I refused. I told him I wanted it fixed. The second contractor was working on the erection of the red iron along about then. The erection crew put up the red iron without squaring or aligning anything. Chris White decided to pull his contractors off the project and I wound up finishing the project on my own. I only owed him less 15K for a turn key building at that point.

Chris White never paid for the redi-mix or the concrete pumper truck. I would up paying over 20K for the redi-mix and pumper truck myself. It was at that point when I hired a attorney and sued All American Steel and Chris White. He filed Bankruptcy protection on himself and made a insurance claim. I settled with his insurance company but barely enough to pay the attorney fees. He is a absolute crook that I would never have any business deals with as he knows absolutely nothing about building steel buildings. My older brother Lee also hired Chris White to build him the same size building as mine and I will have him fill out a report as well.
