My company hired Ranger Financial Services to collect a debt from a long time customer that was getting out of range on past due invoices at more than one property. Ranger Financial seemed reputable at the beginning and we were going to give them a shot.

What came next can hardly be described over the internet. They contacted the customer, an apartment complex, and used tactics that were beyond any that I could ever imagine being used. They contacted several of the sister properties located across the USA and used the same tactics.

These tactics include: pretending to be a lawyer, making sexual comments, using abusive language, threatening to contact vendors and customers and tell them that they are a shady company to do business with, and making repeated phone calls and tying up the customers phone lines.

After the harsh treatment, the customer refused to work with Ranger Financial and contacted us instead. Once the customer told them that they refused to work with them Ranger Financial began to call us and harass us in the same manner that they did the customer.

We reached an agreement with the customer and they paid us the money they owed us. Ranger Financial couldn't deal with the fact that they blew the project so they threatened to sue us for breeching our contract with them.

We did pay them their money, even though they really didn't deserve it.

I suspect that they are using this extreme tactic to make their transaction win/win for themselves. They will either get their cut from a successful collection, or they will get their cut by threatening to sue the company that hired them in the first place. I can only imagine that most of their transactions go down like this.

If you were my customer and were treated like this, wouldn't you refuse to deal with the collection agency and instead work directly with your business partner to resolve a debt? I know I would, and that is EXACTLY what Ranger Financial wants you to do so that you will be in breach of their contract and they can get paid for their unsuccessful collection attempt.

We gave Ranger Financial their chance, and they blew it. A simple web search of their company would have revealed exactly what was coming. Lesson learned on our part. Don't be a victim to this company.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Yeah, these guys will con you.

AUTHOR: Preston - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 17, 2011

They (Jeff) called asked for the owner (by name) and I stated the owner was out. He said "you can tell him it's Jeff he's expecting my call". I said "He's out can I take a message" he said "No thanks I'll hold" again I stated that he's out and he stated that he would call his cell. He didn't because he didn't have his cell #. Just another Con...

Most recently, The owner answers the phone, again it's Jeff. Jeff states who he is with in a manner that sounds like he has something to do with the Texas Rangers. The owner asked him several times who he was with and he rapidly states the business name. The owner tries to ask questions and Jeff gets louder and more hostile speaking over the owner. Owner hangs up...

I would think that people would do more research before hiring a company such as this to represent your business but unfortunately that's not the case.

You can also report them to the Texas Attorney General if you're on the "Do not call list". We are and we have.

Believe what you read : Ranger financial services are the wrong people to hire for collections.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Incorrect information

AUTHOR: Ranger Financial Services - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 02, 2009

This report was filed by a disgruntled client who was upset about having to pay our fee on an account that was clearly collected through our efforts.

This company Coastline Electric had invoices dated from January and February, 2009. Coastline was due this money and they had even filed a lien against the property in June, 2009. They hired us to collect these past due invoices. I have copies of a demand letter that was sent by Coastline to the company who owed them money. I have copies of signed receipts where the company was notified that Coastline had filed a lien against the property. This company continuously chose to not pay Coastline. In their report Coastline would like someone to believe they had given us a good client account that was just a little past due. This was not the case as proven by Coastline filing a lien against the property as a last resort to get paid.

Coastline signed a contract with Ranger Financial Services to collect this past due receivable. We are not unprofessional in any way. We deal with companies who have refused to pay their bill for an extended period of time. We do this every day. If we treated our clients or accounts we collect in the way Coastline claims we would not be able to keep our doors open.

Coastline has filed this report in an attempt to slander Ranger Financial Services.

Ranger initiated our collection activity on the Coastline account on June 17th, 2009. By the end of the June, Coastline had requested for Ranger to cease collection activity on the account because they had made a deal to be paid by the account we were collecting. At that time they refused to pay the fee Ranger was due. In 6 months Coastline had no success collecting this account with their internal efforts, even after filing a lien on the property. Ranger was able to get results in less than 2 weeks. Coastline claims we blew the project. I dont understand this comment. Coastline clearly admits they got paid by the account they turned over for collection. When Ranger asked Coastline to pay our fee they refused to pay our fee. Only after Ranger filed a BBB complaint against Coastline did they pay our fee. If you would like additional information about this matter, please submit your request to info@rangerfs.com.
