Rapid gurus called me on my home phone last week.  Usually I hang up on such calls, but got sucked into their sales pitch by a "Megan Sky" (I'm sure that wasn't her real name due to her Indian accent).  She was able to get into my computer remotely and clear out all the "bad stuff" as I was told.  During the course of this computer cleaning, the phone connection was awful....you might here every 2nd or 3rd syllable.  Each time I was called back the caller I'D showed Salt Lake City, California, etc.  Big red flags, but it gets worse.  They told me they do not take credit cards.  Only an e-check.  After great reluctance I gave them my checking account number for the transaction of $299.  What was I thinking???!!!!  Then all of a sudden I start getting emails stating, "welcome to Vonage and your payment".  I called Vonage and sure enough they had an e-check from my checking account!  I did not authorize this.  I've never subscribed to Vonage and don't plan on it in the future.  Rapid gurus denied having anything to do with Vonage.  On their website it states they DO accept credit cards.....another lie!  I drove to my bank and had to get my checking account closed.  They did not get their $299.  My husband spoke to them and said, "your website says there's a 30 day money back guarantee and we do not want your services".  I just got on my computer and all of a sudden rapid gurus popped up sending me harassing messages.  I typed back to them that we did not want their services and they have now enabled my computer.  I'm being told that if I don't pay them $249 (it was $299!) I won't be able to use my computer at all.  Sure enough, they locked up my computer.  I cannot open it unless I pay them $249!!  Please....don't get scammed like I did!!  I'm ashamed to tell this story, but it is ALL true.  Now, do I get a new computer?  Not to mention they've rendered control over my computer!!
