This man Raymond Scott called and left threatening messages on cell phone and house phone.  I tried 3 times and only got a voice mail saying that person was unavailable.  At no time did the message say what the company was.

When I finally got Mr. Scott on the phone, he said this company Advance America had a suit against me, was going to be filed today unless I could pay $300, but would have to pay 3 more payments of $300 each to pay this off and keep them from filing the suit against me and having me arrested for up to 5 years in prison for collateral check fraud, theft by deception, et cetera.

He wanted a letter faxed to him with a copy of my debit/credit card, my driver's license today, plus the $300 today, stating I would pay the additional payments and his company had the right to deduct these payments biweekly until paid off.

When he gave me the fax number and the email of jeffmorgan@lawyer.com, I looked it up and found other reports on here for the name Raymond Scott and jeffmorgan.

This is very upsetting to someone who does not make a lot of money and I have checked my credit report and have nothing on it from any company like this.

Don't fax anything to this scammer

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - ()

POSTED: Thursday, January 09, 2014

If you fax anything to this person you could be setting yourself up for ID theft.

The whole thing is a scam. It doesn't matter which name they use, Raymond Scott or XYZ, this is a scam designed to get your identity or your money or both. Don't do it. If he calls you back, hang up. If you already gave him your credit card then call the bank and have them stop payment AND have the bank change your card account number,

Remember, just because a person claims to be a lawyer, doesn't mean anything. Protect yourself and your identity. Go to FTC(dot)gov and look up scams. You will see that this is one of the more common, long running scams. Don't fall for it.
